A 17-year-old Scottish schoolboy was thrown out of his class and reprimanded for saying that there are two genders, in contradiction to what his teacher was saying.
His teacher took him to a private room to reprimand him, however the boy was secretly filming the event. The video was released to Reddit, and is on this thread:
To be fair to the teacher, he was only acting on the orders and training of his education authority.
A spokesman for Aberdeenshire Council told the Mail Online:
"As part of our Public Sector Equality Duty we aim to: eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation; advance equality of opportunity between those who have protected characteristics and those who don't; and foster good relations between those who have protected characteristics and those who don't.
'It is important to understand the context of any video clip taken without a person's consent. In our schools, fostering good relations among different groups can be a real challenge but our aim is to support a fairer, inclusive environment for all."
The incident concerns me, as it appears that the education authority is acting against free speech and independent thought. What do you think?
