Bridges over the Yallahs River from Richmond Vale to Ramble

in dtube •  6 years ago

The Yallahs River is a major stream in the eastern part of Jamaica and very important to the capital of Kingston. These bridges have been in place for decades, the second bridge still has timber.

In December 2018, a group of Jamaican cyclists and friends rode on the highway from Kingston to St Thomas and through the mountain range back into Kingston. Those who completed it rode for more than 60 kilometres.

These hillsides have been the home of the Jamaican Maroons, our indigenous freedom fighters, for centuries.

These bridges are among several that cross the Yallahs River between communities. It is a very tranquil scene and we were refreshed from having experienced it.
