The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 9, DTube Video #2

in dtube •  6 years ago  (edited)

Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.

Genesis 9:5-7

Blood is important. We had read about Cain killing Abel back in Genesis four.

"What did you do?” God asked. “Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground..."

Now we are reading that we will have to give an account for any blood that we spill. The ESV says there will be a reckoning to be required for the life of a man.

In the Hebrew, it is similar but the word "man" is expressed in three different ways related to bloodshed.

I will require it from (the) man -Adam

man2.png

From the hand of man -Eesh

I will require life of (soul of) Nefesh the man.

I am noting some of the more confusing vowel placements in today's video. I tell you how to pick them out from all the dots and dashes.

Please have a look and repeat the words after I point and read. See you in the comments section.

Bloodshed has always been banned, but until now there is still a lot of bloodshed, why this happened

I never like to bloodshed from my side and I know others also same like me.
Describe better to understand.

I like peace, without blood and conflict

I don't like bloodshed, because it's not good

So the word "man" can be expressed in three different ways? So is that the reason you made reference to it in text? Thanks really today featured two verses in chapter 9, thanks for an amazing video today I enjoyed this one
