Blockchain will never be "fair" either

Fun to follow some early responses to Dtube's progress on Steemit and social media. Some already declaring Google dead because of this. Amusing to say the least. While reading I stumbled upon a remark that actually was made by LBRY about something else (Jordan Peterson / YouTube): "Luckily Jordan uses #LBRY, where censors can't get it".

It hit me that maybe people interested in Dtube, LBRY and other content/entertainment blockchain initiatives don't really understand the bigger picture here.

By decentralizing processes, file storage or metadata it doesn't mean there is no censorship. One of the principles of blockchain is censorship through consensus. Meaning if 51% wants a process to go left and not right, it will happen. 49% are not getting what they wanted. The other thing is that you can argue that groups of people can influence / become the 51% in a particular blockchain.

How?
The easy answer is of course in a private blockchain. But also a nation, consortium or group of influencials owning or controlling a lot of nodes can start to shape the 51% consensus group.

So fast forward: for the blockchain itself and also for the data moving around you will need to shape governance systems. Btw, this is not new or something far fatched. Check Dfinity BNS or Qtum's Judgement Committee idee.

So, sorry to spoil it for the "I hate censorship" camp but there always will be censorship. The good news is that if the major blockchain players design and execute a transparent governance system in compliance with common sense & some real world laws we can kill many critical signals claiming Dtube (yes you can watch The Matrix, yes Steemit and IPFS could draw a line), LBRY and other initiatives are fuelling Pirate Bay 2.0

Let common sense guide us all. Thank you!
