Given the recent scandalous use of the term "Polish death camps" by a public German TV station, ZDF, and their consequent half hearted apology to Auschwitz survivor and resistance fighter Karol Tendera, I have decided to quickly point out why Poles, and everyone should care about not whitewashing Nazi German crimes.
The camps were designed, created, operated, staffed, and ran by Nazi Germany and their collaborators. This is a Nazi German crime and referring to them as anything else is an affront to the victims of that murderous regime.
Lets not falsify history.
If you would like to help out, I suggest joining the Polish Media Issue group which has tackled over 11 years, thousands of cases of the use "polish concentration camp" and other false variations published online. If you don't have time, just send them links to news outlets that inaccurately report on the role of Poland in World War II.
There are numerous groups that are doing a great job in fighting these slanderous terms, including Germandeathcamps.org, Żelazna Logika, Fundacja Tradycji Miast i Wsi, Red is Bad and many many others.
