How I Rose From A Sunken Place

HumanEarl Reloaded

Months ago I was a shell of myself. The scoreboard read "depression 77- Earl 0". But I didn't stay there although I thought it was going to be a never ending journey to the abyss. Then I rose out of the sunken place with a new fire burning inside. A fire that I had never had before. Ever. Even now I am more motivated and fueled than any other time in my life. I now understand that what I went through was to be an example to fuel someone else who may be experiencing the same things I was.

The reloading process was undoubtedly the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. It was even harder to deal with than the 3 shoulder surgeries I had that happened to put me out of sports for some time. But now I am initiated and now there's no holding back. Let me share some of the things I did to recharge and get out of the mud.

  • I looked up. I know where my help comes from and I tapped in to the power of the Creator
  • I moved in the direction of my energies and started living my life in the flow
  • I said NO to anything that was trying to steal my energy or degrade my health
  • I went from having a "poor me" attitude to a "screw you!" attitude
  • I spent more time with my family
  • I took daily walks in nature to help relieve stress
  • My wife gave me much support and encouragement
  • I started working out again

These are the things I did to recover my life and rise out of the sunken place I was in. Some of these things overlapped in some ways but the point was for me to show you some things you can do to improve your dark situation if that is you. In the moments of despair and darkness you feel that no one cares and you feel you will never overcome what you are dealing with. You have to take this one day at a time and keep chipping away. You must pound the rock. It may be a slow process to climb your way out but the only thing that matters is that it is possible to overcome. Nothing is impossible and you are more than capable of fighting this.

I had to continue telling myself this especially when I had no motivation to do so. Once I started doing those things I mentioned earlier the doors started to really open in my life. I became stronger mentally and I regained mental clarity. Nature embraced me and welcomed me home. Slowly I started to become a force to be reckoned with. This is exactly why I am now on a mission to help others navigate this experience called life. I am no guru whatsoever. I am just someone who's battled with darkness face to face and lived to fight with those who feel hopeless. Much love and peace to you all.

Are you in a sunken place?

What things are causing you to feel hopeless?

If you have overcome depression or burnout what are some things you did to win the battle?

It never really goes away, just goes into remission.

  1. Firing all the assholes in my life
I stopped wasting my limited mortal time with people that directly & indirectly give off negative energy. I don’t care how long you have been friends with Josh. Cut him off. Cut off parents if you have to.
  2. Exercising more
A combination of swimming and judo. Don’t have time? Neither do I! Climb the stairs everywhere you go, no matter what. Works for me.
  3. Auditing my time
Every activity that was a waste of time was removed. Every moment is dedicated towards moving forward. Goal, micro task, execute.
    The truth is,

-Situations will not come to you.
-It’s your job to go out into the world.

Put yourself in situations that facilitate change.

I always overlooked exercise in every self-help book I have read. It wasn't until this year that I had a moment where I realized that it really is one of the most important things. Your body and mind feel clear and you're able to tackle problems with more ease. Also, people who waste your time are nothing but a pain in the butt, once you realize this everything becomes easier in terms of accomplishing your goals. Really like the way you worded this, it is spot on!

@kouba01 #1 can be the hardest for people due to the expectations people have of others. But yea I agree that if you around negative energy you have to find a way to remove yourself from it

Exercise is known to improve your mental health so any kind of exercise can be helpful. Is judo difficult?

@rwenner Word to that

When your better half (wife) support you in this of situation, it gives a real boost to bring back those lost confidence of life.

I am happy that you are having a cordial and well understanding wife.

Thanks.

My wife has been there for me through it all. I would get angry at her for telling me what I really needed to hear. That just shows how much of a bad shape I was in. But like I said I stopped playing the victim.

I have had the same kind of feelings. And when the new year hit I changed all that. I stopped drinking, started eating better, started working out, started reading more. I have had a really nice turnaround. I think the hardest part for me is the consistency factor. It is hard for me to keep going. My depression has put me in such a deep hole. Now I feel like I am starting to climb my way out. Every morning I wake up put on a pot of coffee, reread my goals and start thinking about what I need to accomplish for the day. I recently got a new job so it is frustrating learning everything, it also takes away from my reading and positive attitude as I have always struggled to comprehend complexities. I am more of a hands-on type of learner. But having to pass a standardized state exam is stressful, to say the least. I try and go for a run when I am feeling stressed and come back to the task at hand a little later. It has helped some but I think the most important thing is to just keep moving forward! Have an awesome week my man!

You have the right mindset. Keep moving forward. You will have off days. Days where you feel like doing nothing and you feel terrible. I have been there too. They key is to try to move forward even if it's just baby steps. I will pray for your recovery friend.

Thanks man, I always hop on here at the beginning of each day and look for your post. Not too many people that I can truly say motivate me. It is nice being part of a community that is growing together as indivuduals.

In time of pain, depression and sorrow look upto your maker and you shall find peace. I'm glad you know where the source of happiness is. He has made you whole and given you life that can never be fustrated by any means. Hold on to HIM

I need those words. I am constantly reminded of where he brought me from. I'm thankful that I am able to handle things better now.

@humanearl - Sir what I can understood by reading this article, you never give up... Every barrier you made as a story of success & you inspired us to make our lives better... Nice thought Sir... God bless you...

+W+

I am much stronger mentally because of what I been through. It does inspire me to inspire others. In the moment I did not know why I was going through that but now I know.

Hi @humanearl
Every person in life happens moments when he is in complete despair. It seems that life is crumbling and that no one is able to help. It's a shame that even when there are no people close to hard life moments. All your friends who were with you when you were well - turned away from you. It's really hard. It's hard to be left alone.
I think that the true power of a person is hidden inside. You are the cause of all your troubles and problems. But you yourself are the solution to all your problems. The key to the solution is yourself and our task is to realize this. To realize this at the deepest level of our consciousness.

Earl, have you heard of such a man Dashrath Manjhi?
For me, this person is a real example of perseverance. Great job. This is a poor man from India who for 22 years was able to make a tonel in the mountain. By oneself. In order for people who need medical help to get it.
We must be persistent in seeking and gaining our happiness as this person.

I have not heard of him. I will research him though. Thanks for sharing that because I like to learn new things and new perspectives.

I wrote a post about this man yesterday thanks to you
Even in the Internet a lot of information about it, it's interesting
I admire such people

Hello @humanearl..you know life is a string that needs to be drawn by plenty, you can't expect to be a loner and expect much reward and happiness from life, no matter how much we try to redraw ourselfs from the world, we will always keep finding them come to us, personally i have not heard of any that said "i made it through life alone" no help from no were, no motivation, no love, no show of kindness even from strangers, at some point, nature brings these people naturally to us.

No man is an island. I believe so too. That was the worst point in my life but things are much better now.

I like this part "my wife gave me much support and encouragement"
@humanearl Yeah, that's how it's supposed to be.

It's a good thing that you left the "poor me" attitude to the "screw you" attitude.
Most times all we need to be successful is to believe in ourselves even after believing in the creator

I was a mess. It was a horrible situation. But I found strength and came back.

It's indeed a success story @humanearl
You will keep going high

Some people get prolonged depression and I think it may be due to some unwanted subdued thought doing a lot of harm from inside and if we do something from the external environment to change the mood and also do some deep breathing and yoga, then we can get out of it.

Thank you and Have a great day.

Your environment does play a big part in your outlook on life. You're right about that.

Once again, hitting the nail on the head. Gotta have activity. Activity breeds success. Sometimes even just getting moving physically can help you mentally. I was at a physical therapy office that had a sign "el movmiento es la vida." It means movement is life!

Thanks for the encouragement. It's not always easy to be positive in tough situations, but sooner or later we'll probably face them. And when we've gotten through it, we can look back and help others who are going through it. We've been there, so we know it gets better.

Ahh My wife is learning Spanish so I'll mention that phrase and see if she understands it.

Some words in Spanish have similar roots as in English so you can sort of piece things together. I studied Spanish in school, so that helped me read the sign. I don't use it much other than that.

I just asked her. She pretty much got it right. I did notice that about Spanish too.

Good for her. Are you guys learning it together, or is she doing it for a class or something?

She is just leaning so she can speak another language in addition to English. I am roughly 40% fluent in German so that is the language I want to learn at the moment. But I haven't been doing well with my studying as of late.

Unforgettable post here, sincerely your life is a testimony indeed. I an motivated, dtube presented this excellently too
But you need to keep being strong for us your friends.
Love you bro @humanearl

Keep steeming

That is what I want to do. Motivate others and share my life experiences. Thanks for reading and understanding.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It empowers others to see someone break free from the chains that bind them. Gives them hope.

You have motivated me to break out of my fears and start blogging every day. I want to see if my story and struggles can also motivate someone out of their darkness.

You are the MAN brother! May the Crypto Gods bless us all!

We all have something to give here. So many people can be helped by your stories as well. Nothing is impossible, you can do it. I know this .

Oh and yea let's hope crypto continues to do well. Thanks for stopping by.

I said NO to anything that was trying to steal my energy or degrade my health

I took daily walks in nature to help relieve stress

I think these two things helped you a lot. And we should never give room to any kind of negative energy and we should be more careful about it, because parallely our subconscious mind is also working and once these thoughts find a room there it will be dangerous to the health of our mind.

Thank you @humanearl....steem on and stay blissful....

The sad thing though is that even your parents or friends can have negative energy. For me I just chose to live in my own bubble so to speak and ignore the negativity.

Months ago I was a shell of myself. The scoreboard read "depression 77- Earl 0". But I didn't stay there although I thought it was going to be a never ending journey to the abyss. Then I rose out of the sunken place with a new fire burning inside.

Oh dear! I'm so sorry to hear about that. I didn't know that you once experienced severe depression.

Tho I'm happy for you now. I'm happy that despite of everything, you scaled through and you're now a good and better person. You came out well refined and sound and you're now so much better. I'm motivated and your story is inspiring.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful story with us. Many persons will learn from this and have hope that everything will eventually become better.

It's a message of hope and struggles

Happy Steeming

The fire is useful for refining things. It's painful in the moment but it causes you to become stronger. Thanks for understanding.

@humanearl,
Many people got depression in many levels! Therefore, this is a great article which can help all of them to get an idea how to move out of depression and be back to the life they got from the god! Excellent article friend! Thank you very much for sharing your personal experiences well!

Cheers~

Everyone handles depression differently too so this is just my way of handling it. Thanks for understanding.

Emotionally damaged - that is what my close people tell me. I get affected by the feels - someone shouting, telling mean things and having a persona about me.

Slowly I am changing myself - letting my own definition be the king. And not get bothered by others definition or viewpoints.

Of course, I take their views to think about - but not let them damage me.

Slowly it works - if you badly want it to work.

Ok I see where you are coming from. I am like that too in a way. I also listen to others but at the end of the day I make the decision as to whether or not what they said will help me or harm me.

Those sure were hard times in your life and the things that you id to recover from that phase are sure great and the right things to do !
I am glad buddy that you are in a good shape now ,hope you get better as time passes by !

Thanks for understanding. This is why I do my best to inspire yall.

Thank you first for this beautiful article.
To get rid of the depression, one must first be in peace with herself and be a goal in life.happiness and respect for nature other elements

I feel sorry for people who go through this. Many people have much worse experiences than me.

"I went from having a 'poor me' attitude to a 'screw you!' attitude"

The above line sums it up. Good to see you back on track.

That changed so much for me once i had that mindset. I told depression and all my health issues 'screw you'

its great to rise from there its the ultimate challenging path one could ever face

And I am still rising. Thanks for understanding my story.

You rediscovered yourself the happiest thing ever would happen in your life

It has been a long and tedious process but things are much better than they were. I thank you for being here and replying.
