DTube Moves To A New Blockchain
Just read the latest post from the folks who brought us the DTube DApp which I found quite interesting but left me with some questions about its long-term relationship with the Steem blockchain?
So let's start with what I found to be promising: With the introduction version 0.9, users will have the ability to post videos and live streams from a URL of their choice. Content creators will have the option to monetize their content and can earn with tokens (DTC) and advertising. Content can be voted upon beyond the seven day limit imposed by the Steem blockchain. Payments will also be instantaneous. Greater emphasis will be placed on actual content creation as opposed to the selling of voting power and bid bots. Posts will simultaneously be entered onto the Steem and DTube blockchains. All in all, some really great features to look forward to.
@dtube has stated the need for some of the items within the Steem blockchain feature set.
STEEM brings in a lot of features (much more than dtube's new chain). And we need some of them, such as author rewards, a semi-stable coin, the staking mechanism, etc...
But I ask myself, whether over the long haul, DTube will seek to replicate the aforementioned features that it currently lacks; and if, assuming all go as planned for the future growth of the DTube blockchain, will it make better business sense to run a completely separate platform? I guess only time will tell.
