Dtube is a great opportunity to publish and promote original content. So why are we allowing the uploading of copyrighted material that can only serve to hurt this platform?

Let's use DTube to promote some great quality original content......not to steal and profit from other people's work.

These copyrighted videos that are uploaded to DTube are harmful for the Steemit platform. They will ultimately get the attention of the wrong people.

We're all very against the idea of plagiarism here at Steemit.

Plagiarism is flagged and downvoted because we don't want our site to be full of thieves.

We have several systems in place such as @steemcleaners to deal with this sort of plagiarism on the Steemit site.

However, videos being posted on DTube are earning great rewards even though they are copyrighted.

Accounts are being made and are shown in the trending pages that claim they are going to start posting certain types of content that are absolutely illegal such as copyrighted cartoons.

These plagiarized movies and cartoons have already earned their respective uploaders more than $30 each.

We as a community are rewarding these plagiarizers when we should be punishing them.

"What if I like free movies?"

Yes we all love free stuff but these movies and TV shows could potentially do a lot of harm.

Let's stop this plagiarism idea in it's tracks. We don't need any lawyers and movie production companies sniffing around our backdoors by making sure that we are clean and producing quality original content.

We don't need to steal in order to have a great video site.

I'm against unfair attribution, I think you'll realize with time that the many people coming to steem from bitcoin (libertarian/cypherpunks) consider plagiarism to be a non-issue.

I was using those two words interchangeably.

Agreed. Plagiarism is presenting work as your own, not violating copyright. They are separate concepts. Copyright is an unjust concept. Conflating the two muddies the water.

It's not only dtube... how bout taking everyone's hard work and I resteem all of them, but I will tell you first that your photo has been chosen as one of the best photos on steem this week, to make you feel good.

Then I will make a collection of them in one post calling it "Best Photos On Steemit". Putting it above the resteemed posts, which post do you think gets more money?

I can easily do the same, so I don't have to spend hours editing. Sad part is that people actually follow them and upvote their "best photos on steem". It's ridiculous.

Yeah I've seen that kind of thing happening. Any way to make a few dollars.

Yahh, thAts true ma'am

This content cant be removed, but theres always a solution, actual copyright owners can claim a % of the earnings through steemit.

@musicbox. You are one of those people uploading copyrighted material to YouTube, yet you resteemed this post. I have no idea what your angle is here. Don't you realise the harm you are doing to STEEM when you publish and earn from other peoples work?

What angle?, my angle is to dump youtube for dtube and i am adding content from anywhere possible to dtube, and i am only focusing on music.

Lots of people use youtube just for music, once thats here more will quit youtube. Anything else happens that may hurt dtube and steemit i will pull the videos.

But you see there are other ways of making business with steemit and dtube, musicians can get a cut of the cheese here too. Only time will tell what happens.

... and steemit is not making a cent so that wouldn't be much.

Exactly my thoughts, the same goes for nsfw material here in Steemit, it's all stolen from the net.

i agree with you. @jeezzle

well said, totally agree with you, thanks for sharing.

I love DTube myself and was wondering how or if this could harm the platform in the long run. In all honesty if its on the block chain I don't know how they can do anything about it. It will be interesting to watch this play itself out in the near future.

I really like it too. The video quality is amazing...... much better than YouTube and we can use it to create original content.

Did not know dtube, thanks for sharing this post, keep it up :-)

I honestly think everything you do you have to do responsibly.
Myself for example when I upload a copyrighted track on Dtube is because I own it in some kind of format and encourage just that: BUY MUSIC! IN ANY FORMAT JUST BUY!
But you still need a source where you can educate yourself.
I post other's people music too because I know how hard it was for me to find some really original and amazing artist from all over the globe.
I thank that to free blogging.
