I Give Thanks (Modupe) is a Contemporary Christian/Yoruba fusion. It expresses the necessity to praise God in all circumstances.
‘Modupe’, literally interpreted “I Give Thanks” is one of the strongest Yoruba phraseologies used to express one's gratitude. Aside the song’s beautiful musical arrangement, its wordings carry powerful messages blended with scriptural nuances that qualify it as a ‘Spiritual Song’ according to Colossians 3:16. From the beginning of the song, there is a mental picture of the raising of the hands in worship, followed by encomiastic words.
Also from the lyrics of the song, Biblical allusions are made to reinforce and justify the reasons for giving thanks to the Most High. One of such allusions is Psalm 34:17, I give thanks for His ears are opened to my prayers.
