D.Tube 0.7: Welcome to the HD

in dtube •  7 years ago

Today I have been reading the publication of the changes in dtube and the truth is that all are very good. I also think that they will help the platform in general to offer a better user experience.

But personally I think that encoding video files does not benefit all types of content. I suppose that for blogs it will be great, since they are mostly close-ups with little movement. In the case of games and gameplays it is a bit different, because the game videos have many details, shadows, lights, textures and fast camera movements; so bad coding can completely ruin the video.

Today I uploaded a 720p encoded gameplay and it looked pretty good. But when comparing the image of the Source version with the coded 720p I was very impressed; since in the coded 720p the image looked more like Minecraft than the original game.

I realized then that I could not upload more gameplays to dtube; since in the official publication they say that the original files (Source) will be eliminated leaving only the encoded ones. I will not deny that I am disappointed a little.

I will try to upload other types of videos to dtube and the gameplays will upload them to Twitch since I do not want to upload anything else to youtube.

So that they know what I am talking about, I leave this comparative image of both versions.
