Soil and parasites under the microscope.
In this new soil sample, I came across some different microscopic lifeforms.
The big worm at the end is a Nematode, also called roundworm. Nematodes are among the most abundant animals on Earth.
They occur as parasites in animals and plants or as free-living forms in soil, fresh water, marine environments.
Worms in humans:
It's estimated that more then a quarter (24%) of the world’s population currently has a soil-transmitted worm infection.
The infection normally starts in the bowel after drinking, eating or even being in contact with contaminated water, food etc.
The worms can travel around inside the body and cause damage to organs such as heart, liver, brain and more.
Your immune system will fight these parasites.
So keep your immune system strong and healthy.
Drink clean water and if you eat meat, cook it enough to kill worms and eggs that can live in it.
