Let's consider that the cryptocurrency market cap is under 570 Billion USD. An equal comparison would be to notice that the WORLD market cap is nearly 80 Trillion USD.
Then let's look at individual exchanges where the volume of the closes exchange in order of ranking can't touch the 16 largest stock exchanges (which amount to 87% of the world GDP).
Look at this...
#1 NYSE is 21.3 Trillion USD (as of Oct 31, 2017), while Bitfinex is 3.8 Billion USD volume (24 hours)
#2 NASDAQ is 9.6 Trillion USD (as of Oct 31, 2017), while Coinone is 1.6 Billion USD volume (24 hours)
#3 Japan Exchange Group is 5.97 Trillion USD (as of Oct 31, 2017), while Bitstamp is 1.3 Billion volume (24 hours)
#4 Shanghai Exchange Group is 5.04 Trillion USD (as of Oct 31, 2017), while coinbase / GDAX is 1 Billion volume (24 hours)
I realize that volume is not the same as market cap, but these are the best numbers I have here. They show the true nature of this market. No matter what direction you look at this, there is no way to say that cryptos are "not going to reach XYZ number!" with absolute certainty. We are relatively still in the beginning stages of the market actually.
Also, when we look at derivatives... Yeah, 1.2 quadrillion USD... no competition.
