#DivestLA: Interview with Madeline Merritt: Wake Up News: 11.3.17

in dtube •  7 years ago

Madeline has been an advocate for the environment since she was a young child, speaking up to preserve the Endangered Species Act in California at the age of 9, and going on to protest the war in Iraq as the president of the Students for Social Justice in high school. In college she helped feed her community as president of The Campus Kitchens Project at Northwestern University.

Now an outspoken advocate for equal rights for women in Hollywood, she was re-inspired by her missions at Standing Rock to engage her community in Los Angeles to make real and lasting change on behalf of under-served communities and our environment. In her own words:

"We can leave the world a better place than we found it for the coming generations. We have to get real about the forces which exert undue influence globally and create solution-focused movements to bring power back to people and planet over profit."

Obviously we'll be covering the great success of Divest LA and the creepiness of the Hollywood casting couch that is finally oooooooozing out into the mainstream press. Message Max Mogren with any other topics you'd like us to address.
