MewNusic D-tube Exclusive: The Greatest Showman: A Million Dreams
Ola Bola musical's Kai Chalmers and Singapore-based musical star Cheryl Tan covers A Million Dreams
"A million dreams is all it's gonna take."
Kai Chalmers
You may recognize the half-American and half-Malaysian Musical Star from the incredible musical version of Ola Bola. Kai, played Eric Yong: A Sabahan footballer that scored the winning goal in the 1980 qualifier for the Olympics in Moscow.
Despite having comparitively little time to showcase his vocal and acting ability in the Musical, anyone who watched can vouch for his undeniable presence.
We caught up with Kai to create something special. The painfully beautiful scene of a Million Dreams has been compared to the introduction of the movie Up (2009): a visual spectacle and a once in a lifetime phenomenon.
Cheryl (Chitty) Tan
Cheryl is an actor based in Singapore and has mastered the Musical Vocal Style. Her undeniable talents have been featured in a plathora of musicals. From Mama White Snake to Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, she has taken the arts scene in Singapore by storm.
You may also have noticed her progression in the Jazz community in Malaysia. Her pairing with Az Samad created a stir and with a few features under their belt, they have earned the respect of the Jazz Connesuires here in KL.
Vocal styles are an art in itself. Think of the current vocal style dominating radio pioneered by Sia and every other top 40 female vocalist versus a decade ago when Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams dominated radio.
Cheryl provided us with the right vocal style for this video. Rare, mature and difficult to master, Cheryl slays her part with little effort.
"A million dreams for the world we're gonna make."
We hope you enjoy this lovely version of A Million Dreams. Please re-steem and spread the word that MewNusic is here to provide you with amazing music and news!
