Part of Bangladesh, the Sundarbans of 6,017 sq km, is one of the world's largest delta, longest saline wetlands and a very important ecosystem rich in biodiversity. There are 334 species of plants and 375 species of wild animals, including 35 species of reptiles, 315 species of birds, 42 species of mammals and world famous Royal Bengal Tiger. Among the major reptile nations, there are seawater crocodiles, oysters, cobbles, guisas, sea snakes, lizards, turtles and others. About 30 species of snakes are found in the Sundarbans. Because of all the features of the Ramsar area as the wetlands, the Sundarbans have been engaged in the area of 560 th Ramasar area in 1992. In 1997, the UNESCO declared Sundarbans as World Heritage Site.
