Do you have pale skin? Does your makeup look overdone and never “just right”? When you try to use a bronzer, does nothing seem to fit? Then this is the right tutorial for you, as I’m going to show you how you can apply natural makeup for pale skin!
Tools you will need:
- Tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream
- Concealer
- Blush (optional)
- Face powder (optional)
- Eyeshadow for eyebrows
- Eyebrow gel
- Brown shadow
- Shimmer shadow
- Mascara
- Lipstick
Step 1: Apply a Tinted Moisturizer or a BB or CC Cream
Keep it light!
Choose a tinted moisturizer, BB cream or CC cream that matches your skin tone, so when you’re applying the base product, it will melt into your skin while blending. You shouldn’t see a difference in colour when applying the product.
Using your finger for the application will give you a natural finish quickly.
Step 2: Apply Concealer over Blemishes and Under Your Eyes
Add a bit of concealer over any blemishes and under your eyes. Blend it into your skin using a finger. This will help even out your skin tone and brighten the under-eye area to make you look more awake. Most of us only need a tiny amount of concealer for this step.
Tip: Sometimes two concealer shades are needed.
- One to brighten the under-eye area
- One that matches your skin tone to cover up blemishes
Step 3: Apply Face Powder
Take a big powder brush and apply a light but even coating of face powder over the areas that you want to mattify. Use a smaller face or eyeshadow brush if you want to set the concealer under your eyes.
Tip: Not everyone needs to use face powder – it depends on your skin type. Use it to control the shine of your skin or to secure your makeup.
Step 4: Apply Cream or Powder Blush
Depending on your skin type, you might want to use either cream or powder blush to achieve the best results.
Applying a bit of blush to the cheeks is optional as some of us with pale skin have naturally pink cheeks.
- If you have naturally pink cheeks, skip the blush and let the colour show through your light base. This will give you the perfect finish.
- If you do not have naturally pink cheeks, add a bit of blush using a blush brush or medium face brush. Don’t forget to smile during the application!
Tip: Pinch your cheeks and see what colour they turn into—that’s your natural blush colour. So, stick with it when choosing the blush.
Step 5: Add Eyeshadow and Brow Gel to Your Eyebrows
Using a bit of eyeshadow that matches your eyebrows and hair will enhance your eyebrows.
Fill them in with an angled brush. If it ends up looking too harsh, use a bit of face powder on an eyeshadow brush to soften the colour of your brows.
To keep them in place, use a bit of clear or tinted brow gel.
Step 6: Prepare Your Eyelids
To prepare your eyelids, use a bit of eyeshadow primer on your finger and blend it all over the lid. This will help the shadow stay put.
Add a matte skin-toned eyeshadow all over the lid using a big flat eyeshadow brush. This will help control the oil and get rid of discolouration.
Step 7: Brown Shadow for Pale Skin
Use a matte or soft shimmer brown shadow that’s not too dark to complement your pale skin. It will add a bit of depth to the crease and outer corner.
Use a blending brush for the best application and results.
Step 8: Shimmer Shadow for Pale Skin
Apply a shimmer shadow using your finger for an intense finish or the same blending brush for a softer finish.
Step 9: Black Mascara Opens the Eyes
To make your eyes look more open, add a few coats of black mascara to your lashes.
Tip: To curl your lashes, wait for the mascara to dry, and then press the lashes upwards with your fingers.
Step 10: Apply a Lip-Toned Lipstick
Applying a lip-toned lipstick will give you the most natural finish! You can choose between a matte, shimmer or gloss lipstick and the formulation is totally your choice.
