I am Parent One and I approve of this message:

This nonsense just further cements my decision to home school. I refuse to participate in the destruction of the nuclear family.
And I don't mean a family has to be father, mother, and biological children. Same sex parents, single parents, adopted, biological, et c. It is about the people you love.
The confusing language of Parent One and Parent Two makes it so impersonal. Breast feeding is unnatural? No synthetic baby formula is unnatural. Obviously, it's SYNTHETIC. It might have some lab made nutrients and enough calories to technically fill your infant, but it is completely devoid of spirit, knowledge, antibodies, and perfectly tailored nutrients to what your baby needs. It lacks the connection between infant and mother, a very important connection. I believe formula should only be an option if there is a medical reason a mother cannot breastfeed. (though in today's society most mother's have to return to work a mere six weeks after having given birth, so breast feeding becomes extremely difficult. Many companies will allow breaks and provide a quiet room to pump, but just.. Ow. Still better than formula though.) Unfortunately, it is the first option and often viewed as the best option for most mothers..
Which, I feel, is exactly what the man behind the curtain wants.
In Huxley's, A Brave New World, to be born of a mother (instead of cloned and decanted), is not only unheard of, but abhorrent to members of that "Utopian" society. There is no family unit. The society is the family unit. A collection of brainwashed clones, decanted into a caste system they have no awareness of or ability to break free from.
A society we're willingly heading to by leaps and bounds.
It is a book I love to hate, but would never burn. I try to bring up these points to my more liberal family members, but they just go back to scrolling their facebooks and call me paranoid and delusional. Or make up excuses as to why that society is actually Utopian and I'm just stuck in the past too scared to move forward.
Like ok, keep telling me (in the same breath) how lucky I am my son listens to and respects me. How I don't know what it's like to be a single mom too busy to care.
I wonder why..
