Jallikattu is a "Bull Embracing" sport which had been originated from the southern part of India 2000 years ago. In this, the human players had to encounter the raging bull by embracing its hump for a few seconds. On the eve of Tamil harvesting festival called Pongal this sport is conducted. This Jallikattu sets a benchmark for the bulls. The bulls which can't be embraced are assumed to be more active, attitudistic and healthy. Such types of bulls are selected for mating purpose to produce offsprings of good quality.
