Quick review of d.tube (Basically a video version of steem.it)

I have only been using https://d.tube/ for about a day and already a couple things stand out to me that bug me.

  1. Why is there no view count?
  • In the spot where a view counter would normally be, there is the cash counter. I believe we should have both, why hide the amount of views that a video gets? This is a great metric for measuring impact and performance of your videos.
  1. Why is 480p the highest quality?
  • I understand that this is running on the IPFS network and that it costs money to host these videos, but in today's world it is unacceptable to not have at LEAST 720p, if not 1080p. I'm not asking for 4K HDR (although if it got support for 4K HDR that might attract a lot of big youtubers like MKBHD, Austin Evans, Linus Tech Tips, etc) but at a minimum I should be able to watch a video in HD in 2018. (After reading about this a little more, it seems 480p might not be the max, just the default for uploads. This is still a problem imo that should be fixed.)

Now that I gave my criticisms. I must applaud d.tube for bringing decentralization, profit, and voices back to the people in a world that is quickly becoming more and more centralized and elitists are gaining even more power. I know d.tube is still young and I can't wait to see where it goes from here! (As well as steemit, which is also relatively young.)
