WOW 2018 is just around the corner and resolutions are on everyone's minds! I realize during this time of year A LOT of fitness and health goals are being set, so I wanted to share and bring back some tips of keeping your fitness goals on track. There was a time in my life where I didn't have the drive to exercise and was leading a pretty inactive lifestyle, but the following are some tips helped me get back to it! Go for it Steemians and reach your personal fitness potential for 2018!
#1. Find a workout or two that you love. I think this is KEY to successfully be consistent with your fitness and is the most important of the tips!!! There are so many different activities that can help you keep in shape. Just to name a few β trampoline, Zumba, yoga, surf, running, hula hooping, aerial arts, martial arts, water aerobics, swimming, hiking, climbingβ the list goes on and on. If you try a new sport or type of workout and you donβt like it, try something else! There are even some programs (Class Pass and Studio Hop to name a few) in larger cities where you can take classes at different studios all over town. If you donβt have access to a studio or gym, you can still use online tutorials or apps to learn and still have a great workout. When I first found pole fitness, I knew nothing about it, but randomly attempted a class. I had the MOST FUN during class. This eventually turned into a great love and appreciation for the pole sport as I learned more about it and watched advanced students do their awesome tricks. From then on, I started to take class almost every day of the week (which is such a different experience for me from doing machines at the gym-where I feel lazy to actually work hard), and I am grateful to have found pole. I am in the best shape of my life because of it and enjoying every moment!
#2. Work out with friends. I have realized that for me, group fitness or finding a friend to attend a class with keeps you accountable and can make you work harder. Another reason I look forward to every pole class is definitely my pole family β we always have fabulous time together, encouraging each other, and watching as each new goal is succeeded. I leave the pole studio in the BEST mood! Another fitness activity I love is acro yoga. My fun sister @karensuestudios first introduced me to the world of acroyoga. The photograph below was taken on the first day she showed it to me! I've had so much fun with since then playing with new friends. It's entertaining and good exercise. :)

#3. Make short or long term goals to challenge yourself. As with work or personal aspirations, you should also have a fitness/health goal in mind. These will differ greatly amongst each individual. Do you want to train for a race, do you want to just be consistent with going to work out, or do you want to be able to do a handstand? Personally, I like to write down my yearly and quarterly goals so that I can remember and gauge what I need to do on a regular basis to reach my goal. Yes, I have a pole trick goal list written down (that I need to update for 2018) β and it is a great feeling when you can check it off after mastering it!
#4. Get in the habit. Just do it! There were a couple years in time that I was not doing anything for my fitness. I actually had a gym membership, but I went about once a month β what a waste! I realize that it is hard to get into the habit and be consistent with working out. I do believe that exercise eventually gives you endorphins, so you have to just start somewhere. Once I forced myself, or rather some friends dragged me to 3-4 different types of workout classes every week, I started to like and look forward to my workouts when my body was used to it. Now it makes me proud to say that I am consistent with my fitness regimen year round, and I even try to bring fitness to my travels or daily life! Hahahaa, you've got me into the habit of clicking on all your photos incase they are videos.
You're spot on... all my best workouts are seriously the highlight of my week. I honestly can't wait to get into them... whereas the ones I HAVE to do, I probably skip like 30% of the time.
I never noticed that rope on the tree/lake photo before... I always thought you somehow backflipped into the middle of the lake.

I LOVE this! keeping me motivated for 2018! i keep a routine with a girlfriend of mine.. we meet at 6:30 every morning..catch up, have some coffee with a little coconut oil in it..do body weight and kettle bell reps of whatever part of the body we are focusing on that day and then finish it off with a protien shake. All done before we head to work for the day. We keep each other motivated by being consistent, switching it up and relying on each other to call in the morning if were running late hahah. We also keep each other motivated by pointing out what is changing on our bodies.. if she's got new definition i haven't noticed before...i tell her! and if my butt is looking good she gives it right back:) it also keeps us body positive. I am super interested in pole fit and haven't attended a class yet. you have definitely inspired me to go try one @polebird !

Well, I work at night so I prefer sleeping than doing workouts but on may day offs sometimes I watch ZUMBAS online then dance with it for an 1 hour and that's it. Hehehehe.

ah hehehe zumba!! I used to go to some zumba classes:) i was really uncoordinated, but it was super fun. dancing for an hour straight is hard work!!

I needed this motivation today! I may be getting released from rehab, so I def need a plan in place to start working on! I am going to have my hubs set up my pole again, so when I feel comfortable I can at least start working on upper body again!
I LOVE swing dancing, that is like my "I don't really feel like I'm exercising" exercise. It's such a great workout, but it's also so freaking fun! I used to be in such great shape just doing that. (Before kids I would go dancing like 4+ nights a week...ah...memories!)
You and Adam have inspired me to keep track of my fitness goals on here too. So I will post my progress as often as I remember to help keep me accountable, and try to get back to where I was pre-episode! Happy (Almost) New Year!

WOO HOOO!! hahah it makes me SOOO happy when fellow steemians tell me that they are starting on their own pole journey.. my secret goal (ok not so secret) is also to convince more people to try pole - the more the merrier, in my opinion! Swing dancing looks so fun, I've actually kind of been working on it - but I'm still on the basic steps/spins. Glad to hear you will be keeping track and I do look forward to your posts!

Wonderful tips @polebird! I'm also a menbership in a gym near of where I live. However, I din't not go there since October :( In 2018, I'll try change it, in order to have a more active life!
Work-Life balance is quite hard where I work, and now, Work-Steemit-Life will be harder ahahahah. Let's try use your tips to start getting a active life :D

Hm I would say most days, I have a lazy day or rest day here and there :) I think the main thing motivating my workout is the fact that I love pole so much and it makes me happy, so I am always looking forward to pole class!! Pole sport has some similarity to gymnastics, but I see like gymnastics has its own challenges as well! I think of pole as a mix of yoga, contortion, dance, and gymnastics on the pole :)

The only type of exercise that ever worked for me was yoga. Even that I find difficult to keep up with. Hereβs to m being more ambitious next year π
