DTubeSnap Plus #10 - How I can give back to the Steem Community

in dtube •  6 years ago

I've been witnessing a ton of community spirit on the Steem Blockchain lately.

  • Seeing a ton of people tuning into and getting active on the first State of Steem Forum @pennsif hosted last Thurs

  • Seeing lots of project leaders/witnesses being proactive with how they can improve the State of Steem

  • Catching @soyrosa's twitter attempt to get Steem on stateofthedapps.com, and then seeing the @oracle-d community and others work their magic on this, and then seeing Steem getting listed

  • Catching @starkerz's detailed presentation on what he thinks about Steem price sustainability, and more importantly promoting healthy behaviour on the platform, something he's been preaching about for ages.

  • Seeing @nathanmars inspiring so many in the Dtube community to engage and give back

  • Catching @crimsonclad's community experiment to get everyone to share why they love Steem, what we can do with Steem and to see if there's anything they can do to give some value back to the community. #crimsaystakeaction

Just to list a few of the awesome things I came across!

All very very inspiring stuff!

Which has made me really think about my place here on the platform, and what I can do more to give back?

Admittedly I was a lot more active behind the scenes earlier this year, which I had to take down a few notches before and over the summer.

But I was still organizing regular London meetups because meeting other Steemians in person and getting others to as well, is a bit of a passion of mine. Which got me to think..

One of the London Meetups this year

As far as I'm aware, there is no website that anyone can go to and see what, when and where a Steem meetup is on. Please correct me if I'm wrong here!

If there really isn't, I'd love to (help) start this.

A simple website where anyone can look for any meetups happening in any country/city, and the details for that meetup.

A website that will pop up (hopefully first) if anyone searches for Steem meet up.

I imagine this would be helpful for any newbie who doesn't know that many people yet (from their country) on the platform, and would love to learn more from one. I know I did when I attended my first meet up!

Another idea I had... and this is inspired by listening to @anomadsoul on the State of Steem Forum last Thurs. A lot of people were brought onto Steem by the likes of Jerry Banfield, etc. He did the work, he made the videos and he blasted them out there. But it's time for more to step up and do the same.

With the new channel Sarah Louise @Ultravioletmag and I are starting (which when it picks up, will also be a great platfrom to promote Steem), I am going to need as much practice as I can get with creating content, improving camera presence and video editing, and the biggest challenge of all combining fun and technical stuff :P

Need more practice on Video Editing!!

So... I'm thinking if I should also make some fun tutorial videos about Why I love Steem, How to get started on Steem, How to buy Steem, What Dapps are there on Steem blockchain to utilize, etc etc.

Is there any need for me to do this? How many tutorials are already out there?

I'd love some honest feedback on this, and please also list out the Steem tutorials you know of that are around and being watched.

(As I typed this, I did a quick Youtube search for "how to sign up on steem", and I'd say yes there's space for me to do stuff like this) But I'd still love to hear what you think!

Thanks for watching/reading! I'd really love to know what you think about this.

I love this platform and especially our community, and I'd love to do a bit more for it again!

Excuse all the um's and you know's, and the 0% make up in the video, was pretty tired but wanted to fit this in before bed ;)

Much Love from Red

Go for it Red! I do believe there was a similar site, but it didn't take off. I'm trying to remember who it was as I do remember it was a Steemian and a developer that teamed up. Yet, the usernames or website name isn't coming to me. Maybe someone else knows.

Looking forward to yours and @ultravioletmag's channel about everything to do with the blockchain and the special guests you might have on.

Also, thinking of what I can do for the community. Maybe I need a full day of concentrating on what I'm passionate about, what I love about Steem, what Steem needs and how to take the small steps. We shall see what comes through 😉

Thanks so much for the ongoing support :)

And I hope someone knows about the site you're talking about, I'm so curious!!

Definitely do that, don't pressure yourself too much though, and hopefully it'll just come to you naturally! Anyway engaging lots with the community is such a massive value, which you already seem to do so well. Looking forward to see what you come up with though!

That was it - steemit.events (@steemitevents). The site was meant to be a one-for-all portal to see all scheduled contests daily as well as the ability to post/schedule Steemit meet ups. But I don't know, maybe not enough exposure or the UI / UE wasn't friendly enough. You need all the ingredients in the recipe. You might have a great idea, but packaging it in a different way can produce an unwelcomed response.

I've been bouncing ideas back and forth, but need to create the whole package like I was talking about above. We shall see 😊

Definatly first of all i thank to you for taking initial for making video. Truely speaking steemit is a huge and complex platform for bew people like me. Still some points i dont knkw about steem because no one is giving proper guidence video for it. So if you will create a such a good video so it will help for new people to understand this platforom very well. And we can find more people who is attracted towards steem.

Thank YOU! I am not an expert, but have learnt all the basics from my time here, so if that's enough, I will definitely seriously consider it :)

Yeah sure and plase make some basic video on all project going on steem platform for e.g. Utopian, dtube etc.

Yeah that stunt by @soyrosa was insane you know, shows the concerns for the blockchain's welfare hasn't totally been forgotten as the steem price deteriorated really, I believe we all have a role to play and your video is an eye opener

Haha yea she's a badass!

The uprising of community has been totally inspiring. We do all have a role to play! Can't wait for Steem price to reflect the awesome community we have here :)

Encouraging things happening despite crypto panic
However, I have seen some folk disappear since ST3... maybe they’re just prepping for 2019

Pardon me, I could not watch the video until the end (messy network) but I did get your take on meet-ups. I think it is a great idea. I feel our communities should also have a physical presence which little hangouts which can help solidify relationship and communities.

We do not have such here in Nigeria but I feel it would be a great idea. Would add this to my plans in 2019: starting a lot created a hangout place for steemians in my sphere.

Of course there is room for you, does not matter how many people are doing the same thing, none of them cannot do it your way ;) Remember how many apps only are now in the world or businesses. Never doubt you can help, hugs

Great effort your doing Steemit proud. I definitely up for the site for Steem meetups, I can't wait to meet some Steem guys in the flesh it such a great community. Just not many up north.

Cant wait to the channel to go live sounds like a great venture 💯🐒

Ahhh thanks man! I'm gonna chat more with the London Steem peeps when I see them next, and see what they think as well. Hope you get to go to a Steem meet up soon!! How far up North are you?

Sounds good. I'm near Blackburn 💯🐒

This all sounds great @redrica. Sorry I don't have a lot of time right now to reply more fully but I think the videos are a great idea. How to use Revolut and coinbase pro to buy Steem would be great. it took me ages to work out how to do that!

have a wonderful Christmas and New year! Lots of love to you and yours. 💙

Thank you Gillian for commenting anyway, and thanks for the suggestions! I will give all of it a good think :)

Have an amazing time with family over Christmas and the holidays! Will set our next meetup as a day time one, so hopefully you can make it as well!!

Am almost sure that no matter how much is done out there, there still remains a gap that needs be filled.

You bringing up tutorials specially for editing dtube related content?

That's encouraging to know! Thanks :)

Editing dtube content will definitely not be my area of expertise. I'm still learning myself. Sorry I know one of the pictures I included may have been confusing about that! But maybe some will need a tutorial for uploading a video and post on dtube? I could do that!
