Dtube vs. Youtube. Hmmm... maybe it is time to think about switching channels.

Are We There Yet?

I've been making videos in the Philippines now for over two years, and has it ever become a chore! When I first started my Youtube channel, I was having fun creating videos and posting them to Youtube. It was fun, it was easy. Lately though, it has become a big hassle. From power outages to internet interruptions, it has become really time consuming to produce a single video. Soon, I will be headed back to Guam where we have reliable power and internet. It will become easy again, but then it will come down to this - dealing with Youtube!

For a while now, Youtube has been another obstructor of sorts... mostly pertaining to monetization issues and copywrite claims. Most recently, I had a year-old video receive a copywrite claim on it. It has since been released, but this kind of makes my point. Then I recently had a friend who was told unless he had 1,000 subscribers, he would be "de-monetized." Yes that's right... Youtube is drawing new lines in the sand. His channel is also an expat channel in the Philippines called Cagayan Valley Isabela and Beyond. Unless he reaches 1,000 subscribers, his channel will lose its monetization soon. I told him about Dtube, but of course it will take time to get him there. So to all Philippines expats, check out his channel and help him out by subscribing if possible. Thanks for that!

I'm sure hoping Dtube can smooth out the rough edges soon. Many creators really need a place to go!

YouTube is effing everybody. DTube is the future...

Hope they speed things up... soon!

I am currently (at the time of this comment) uploading my first video to Dtube. I started uploading this 6 minute video over two hours ago and am about 65% finished. These slow uploads are what will keep many from making the jump from YT to DT... IMHO. I tried uploading a video about three months ago and I simply gave up... too slow. The jury will be out for a while, so it looks.

what is Dtube offering in terms of monetization?

Henry, check out the lastest blog update by the Dtube team @dtube

It is built in conjunction with the Steemit platform and you earn like you would if it were a post on Steemit. Comments, likes and resteems all count. Visit Dtube and take a look at what some videos are making. Ironically, here is a Youtube video about Dtube. Of course there is much more about Dtube if you do a little searching.

Here is another Article.

Sorry to hear this. Caught wind of it the other day but since I'm not over there much it doesn't really concern me anymore. As for your friend I'll go over and subscribe but I think the better choice for him is to join us here on steemit. I'll start throwing the link in comments to his vids here and there to help nudge him along! Good to hear from ya!

Here is the sad thing about guys like him. He doesn't do it for the money as he has a full time job. He does it to help the kids in the Philippines. Now Youtube wants to yank it from him and other account holders with less than 1,000 subs. Bad for everyone, including YT!

yea I hear you about utube, ;now that dtube has "Ironed out the Bugs" ,it's a much faster platform and I also had copyright warnings for music that was playing in Dunkin Donut..

I shot a bunch of Mall video the other day and I will have to overdub with narration because of the mall music that was playing in the background. Yesterday, we went to a wedding reception and I will also have to overdub that as the dance music that was playing will be flagged. Hard to win with Youtube!

oh youtube...
i hope dtube could get the upload options easier and better.. i tried to upload some videos before and it was just taking forever while the video went smoothly with youtube..

It will just be a matter of time before Dtube smooths out all the wrinkles. Remember, Dtube is still in beta. Patience is a virtue here! ;)

agree dear... i will try to upload some soon..
