Opioid drug-maker Purdue Pharma suppresses negative stories about its painkiller

Documents have revealed that US drug-maker Purdue Pharma ran a campaign to suppress negative stories about its widely-prescribed opioid painkiller. They were published by investigative media outlet Pro-Publica.

On average, 130 Americans die each DAY from overdosing on opioids. Nearly 80 per cent of heroin users have misused painkillers prior to heroin. A public health emergency was already declared in 2017.
