Israel says ICC lacks jurisdiction to probe war crimes in Palestine

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations has launched a scathing attack on the International Criminal Court, accusing it of 'diplomatic terror', after the organisation's chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, announced her intention to investigate alleged war crimes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Israeli officials insist that ICC has no jurisdiction to investigate alleged crimes committed in the Palestinian territories, as Palestine is not universally recognised as a sovereign state.

The court's top prosecutor has signalled her intent to look into alleged war crimes carried out by both Hamas and the Israeli Defence forces since 2014.

Look again at that criminal logic: If the territory is not recognized, you can murder anyone in it with impunity!

Stunning, isn’t it?
