Russia’s Soyuz rocket hit by lightning during launch

Russia’s Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket was struck by lightning just 10 seconds after take-off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome… but it still weathered the tough hit.

The thunderstorm began shortly before launch of the device which is carrying the Glonass-M navigation satellite. Yet, the strike was no obstacle for the cosmodrome team, and the space journey continued as planned.

That's tough and really good engineering. Elon Musk rocket blew even no lightning strikes.

:), again the heavens will always win... lighting... who could have thaught... anyway, when will an asteroid strike :), they said hypersonic... still too slow :).

What a coincidence. It's lucky lightning can't be created and directed using machines made by man, or people might start looking at these events differently. Nothing to see here. Move along.
