How many people actually watch DTube films?

I started a new video series yesterday and posted part 1 on DTube but with no view counter I am unable to know how many people watched it. An upvote or a comment does not mean the film was watched, and in this case the comments clearly indicate it was not.

Most of us are in a hurry here on Steemit, so this is understandable. Time is money...tick tock tick tock

But if DTube aims to take on YouTube it needs more than just content creators.

Steemit compatibility with DTube

DTube films are not yet watchable on Steemit itself which adds to the problem. If you are using Busyyou will already know they have been able to implement this particular feature and I am unsure why Steemit hasn't done the same?

I was a film maker before Steemit

Two years ago I was keen to leave YouTube behind so ran some test on DTube, making films specifically for Steemit and posting them exclusively on DTube. The results were tepid at best. I figured DTube was just new and things could only improve from here...

Two years on I am not so sure.

Please let me know what you think

  • Are you one of those people who doesn't click on the DTube links?

  • If so, why?

  • If 6mins is too long, would you consider watching a 2min version?

My only solution for now is to upload my films to YouTube so that I can create a post from which they can be easily viewed. And I can easily see how many people watch them.

SO.... PLEASE WATCH MY FILM!!!!

Yes it is 6 mins long but at least give it a try?

As a filmmaker who adjusted his life to fit Steemit I have felt in the last few months a growing awareness that my deeper creative desires are not being met. It is therefore my intention with this series to post short films as often as possible which will re-focus my energy on this almost forgotten aspect of my life and in doing so attract towards me those bigger film projects I do so enjoy getting stuck into.

I will still write posts on Steemit but not so many now. Films will be my primary way of getting my message across. I will keep them short and I will edit them a little so that you may enjoy them all the more.

In this first part I set the intention for the series and take my camera to work to show you what it looks like when a man who has been sat at a computer for two years tries to swing a pick axe & a shovel!

I am NOT a fan of @dtube , I for the most part stop clicking on the links because every time I did click on it the video would not play for me. I know more and more people are tying to get away from youtube but at least for now a video there will play every time without any issues!

Thanks for letting me know this. Apparently you are not the only one having these issues.

Good videos @samstonehill, i like it.
although 6 minutes I spent watching it, is this an @samstonehil adventure.

Thank you! I really only need one person who enjoys what I do to find further inspiration to keep doing it ;)

keep spirit @samstonehill, success is always for you.

That is a great vid. I don't usually watch vids because I find them long and boring, and especially not dtube ones because they mostly don't work.

With you I was curious to see how you live and thought your vid would be better - and it is!

Vids are a different state of mind to watch - sort of slow - I'm usually not looking at any Steemit posts for more than about one minute each.

Right now I'm searching online for a torrent of the tour de france bbc highlights and one 45min stage summary per day is my vid watching

Thank you for the vote of confidence! I do appreciate you watching it. I see many people producing super basic films, just talking to the camera and am imagining with my little bit of extra effort & editing, eventually these films will get noticed in some way. I have a lot to talk about.... and a lot of creative tricks up my editor's sleeve ;)

Hope you enjoyed the cycling more than I enjoyed the football last night!

Honestly the idea of what we had of steemit is gone. People watch just as many videos as the amount of posts they read. Most people these days are here for the curation rewards...which is sad....
In my honest opinion.... Steemit has become a mining site, which will hopefully change once SMT's are released!

Yep, I feel it too. Though the brief interactions under my posts do give me the feeling that there is a community somewhere within this mining site!

Where are those darn SMT's??? Feel like we've been saying this for ages.

I suspect that it might be soon. We are just floating over at steemiteducation too. It will make a big difference if it finally launches. We have been excited for ages, and now we are just waiting...not even anxious anymore. It will come when it is ready...lol!

I do watch Dtube videos when I can actually get them to play......which yours did. I had to watch you at 1.5 times the normal speed though.;) Like most people, you speak way too slowly.

Good idea watching at the faster speed. Thank you for watching!

good and excellent video! @samstonehill

Thanks ;)

I usually don't click on dtube videos because they usually don't work.

Thanks for letting me know. I understood these kind of issues were resolved but apparently not.

at first they didn't work at all for me and then sometimes I could watch like 30 seconds of them before it froze up, there are a couple I have watched that worked but now unless something seems really compelling I don't bother with it.

Your post has been great. Later, such a better post would be shared among us. Thank you

Now you sir did not read the post.

Welcome to Steemit though!
