A Snowy Paradise - A Brief Flight Over Frosted Mountains

Hey guys! Welcome back!

I wanted to share this relatively short video with you today from one of my winter hikes, though I almost didn't share it because I thought it was too short. But then I thought, the reason why it's so short could make an interesting post.

It's about 8am, we begin to make our way up to the White Mountains, about 2 hours north of Boston. We get there and it's a bit later than I was hoping to arrive, but we just drove 2 hours, so we gear up and begin our climb.

It was a tough trek, with lots of ice, and some deep snow in some areas, but we made pretty decent time considering.

We finally reach the summit, at about 4,800ft elevation, and man, WHAT A VIEW! Everything is frosted, as well as all the surrounding mountains you can see for miles! Oh! I got to fly my drone! It's going to be epic!

So my main concern was keeping the battery warm enough 9 or so I thought), so I kept it charging in my bag the whole time to keep the battery warm. Next, I found a decently snow cleared area to launch from, and 3, 2,1.....we're off! The view looks incredible already, and I didn't even move yet, until......my iPhone 6S dies. What. Really? Now?

I'm assuming the extreme cold was too much for the iPhone battery, and it shut down. Great. Now I'm flying blind, but I didn't come all this way for nothing. So I flew for about 3 or 4 minutes trying to get some shots. And then my glove less left hand felt like it was getting frost bite, so I gloved up, landed and we made our descent.

So out of that few minutes of fling, these were pretty much the only decent shots I felt I had gotten. Which is more than I expected honestly, but lesson learned for next time!
