Bringing back my 5x5 hex bar lifts and working towards my old intermediate 3RMs.
Feeling ready.
Modest 116kg to start which were actually lefts overs from my friend rohan maloney.
Sharing is caring.
Will be working back up to my 200kg PB.
Seems so far away at the moment. Got the bar back up to 130kg after this lift.
Hopefully back over the 150kg before the 8 Week Challenge is over. 🙏
Deadlifting requires respect.
All lifting does.
Conditioning and progressive increases in load and lifting experience (training age) are going to bring you the best results.
Take your time, work on your mobility and range.
Work in cycles based on your current emotional state, physical capacity, training experience, technique and goals.
Breathe, brace and lift.
Grip hard, breath deeply, brace internally, squeeze the lats and back, neurally contract the muscle lines, push through the floor hard, stand tall, squeeze the glutes, hold and then breathe out on the way down or at the bottom.
Personally I focus on singular reps with control.
Then group these singles with the focus of quality.
Time is irrelevant when training sustainably as strict technique prevents injury and disc stress.
Time constraints always cause short cuts and lapses in focus. It’s just human nature to be competitive.
If you are an athlete trying out for regionals go for it.
Just a normal human with a family looking for sustainable fitness then focus on strict training protocols.
