I didn't think I'd be able to bring myself to ramble on today. I'm staring at my almost finished second cup of coffee wondering if there's motivation to post anything of substance.
BUT THEN
I made a comment expressing the same old frustrations I've been having with a non mobile friendly steem experience only to be removed from an airdrop because someone can't handle my observations and took them personally. I'm not going to return the petty by dropping names. Truth be told I stick by my opinions that I find it absurd to continue building on top of a platform that can't see mobile is the future. And steem engine sucks hard!!

If taking the altruistic and genuine approach of thinking if just one person is positively impacted by my content then of course it's a worthy pursuit. If however the aim is to hear some chatter to accompany the clincking clacks of our coin factory then perhaps I should light some candles and meditate on why I have expectations. And if I even believe steem is salvageable.
vlogging vs 1998
I'm a bit surprised heimindangers dtube vision post hasn't received the level of engagement I thought it would. It all makes sense to me, of course a bit of the technical details are not quite clear, and while the devil is in the details, I must say the core principles are very attractive to me. If the kinks and bugs are all ironed I'm not seeing much reason to steem on as I know it today.
I suppose it's too difficult for our community seeing chains popping up that challenge the entire premise of both old and new steem. I saw acidyo had given his nod of approval in saying the dtc looks like the only coin that has a reason to exist or chance to survive. I think I completely agree.
People don't want to read, generally speaking. Steemians are more apt to consume written content than most but we might have already found those 10k people on earth. Basically, dtube makes sense, it seems to have a proper place in our online evolution. I think I should have used this as a script and just made a video..
Maybe someday, for now it's time to powerdown and accept that tribalism is not my cup of tea nor is fighting with people that are supposedly creating new steem and distributing coins on the shittiest online experience I've had in my entire life. BTW this isn't a rage quit, y'all aren't that lucky, this is me letting it be known I'm no longer a believer in steem or it's communities so don't worry about seeing my strong tag game and diverse content.

As for video content. I have watched less than 5 videos on here in 2 years. I much prefer to read and I am sure there is some very fine video content out there but generally, I have neither the time or patience to watch.
Most everything is I see here is padded out and flashy editing annoys rather than impresses.
The worst ones are the talking head videos because people can state their opinions with a little context in a few paragraphs. Turn this into video and it becomes 10 minutes of painful me-ism.
Even worse is the fact that many vloggers have no idea on presentation and waffle on like inane, speed addled imbeciles.
If i want to take a minute to think about something that has been said, I have to stop and start a video, wind it back a bit and mess around. Reading allows me to simply stop, think and continue.
I also have a deep and irrational hatred of Millenials with bum fluff beards. Millennials should be heard and not seen.

I've got to curb the expectations as well, I shouldn't have assumed that because I include a tag and kinda know those community members from off chain interactions that these tribe streams would result in any actual on chain support or even engagement.
I've lost nothing and only have a clearer picture of which steemian's show an interest in my presence here. I'm not exactly cheering for the coins so it makes sense I'll be greeted by closed doors. If it's good for steem and I'm wrong that it's all bullshit that's cool with me..

Who knows where this whole thing is going. I do agree the mobile aspect of things are definitely huge opportunities. Also many don't like to read, video does communicate many more things than simple text and photos. I do think there is a pretty big value in people being able to build a front end and reward system for their business/community. It's all about, who can create the most compelling system imo. If someone can envision a simple all in one solution like a one login solution that links their front end to steem and can provide all the rewards easily for folks to understand will be the winner winner chicken dinner.

Glad that this is not a rage quit! I agree, a lot of people want to consume content by listening to it or watching it because it is much easier. Developing and improving d.tube is a critical step forward.
However, I like to read content as well. It's much better for your overall being if you read the content I feel like. It's stimulates my mind more :)

on video/writing. i love video because i most of the time multitask when i watch/listen to a video (that is why i never got that much in mobile browsing) but that means that if i read something, i really read it, if i watched it, maybe i missed some stuff because there was a really funny cat photo on the other tab.

I believe you're correct on the authors rewards but you can use all your voting power on yourself on one vote and can of course get curation rewards.
I'm not 100% in agreement with all of the economics but being a one dapp utility, voting mana, and liquid are all places steem destroyed itself..
The dtube concept is encouraging very serious accounts to have a large stake so that they can build their brand up themselves and commit to creating high quality videos. No more guy talking about why he loves steem on his phone. This should promote more film company type of content with actual production, so you get your green screens and animation etc. You curate good stuff at the right time and get rewarded.. It's way out of the box from steem and is more of a YouTube where the ecosystem drives the currency instead of advertising.. I appreciate the mentality and honesty of I can't build this on steem but I'm not abandoning the platform I'm splitting into two separate instances..
