Welcome to the 73rd episode of the Steem Sister Show!
Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney. Two sisters bringing fun content to the Steem blockchain.
Topic of this Episode –The Power of Saying YES!
Last week we talked about the power of saying no and standing up for yourself... and so it only seemed fitting that this week we would do an episode on the power of saying YES!
We have some extra juicy tangents in this episode… For example - Mary creates a cheer based on a comment from @goldmatters, and we update the world on my upcoming pull-up contest with the one and only ninja warrior @aussieninja. (yeah I have no hope)
Some serious shoutouts to the Blockbuilders event in Austin too! @steemcafe, you would be proud.
Here are the questions we answered this episode.
@aussieninja – Should a ninja visit SSS in the summer of 2019?
What are you saying Yes to this year?
Give a few examples of awesome things that have happened in your life because you took a risk and said Yes?
@d00k13 – Have you ever said yes to something, and only realized after you were already doing it, the impact it would have?
What is the Steem Sister Show All About?
We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@coruscate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.
We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!
How Does It Work?
We pick a different topic every episode, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.
Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.
Want to win some Steem??
If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 Steem!
Next Week’s Topic: #AWKWARD
When we got together to film this week - we were both laughing at Mary's somehow totally awkward moments on camera last week. (I'm a mean sister so I probably played them on repeat.... probably.)
So we decided to do an episode aaaalll about being awkward. Some of our most awkward stories, what types of things actually make us feel awkward, and what we do when we find ourselves in one of those moments. Just embrace the discomfort, do something to change it, or run?
So send us your questions! If we choose to answer your question during that episode - we'll send you 2 steem.
That’s a Wrap!
We really hope you guys enjoyed this episode on the power of saying YES and hearing a few stories of how embracing opportunity has really changed our lives!
Ah, this was so much fun!! While I'll always enjoy the answering of questions, the banter at the start made me laugh out loud so many times. I honestly can't wait for Austin!
I can't promise you I'll remember the cheer, or that I'll only ask questions that are drawn out of a hat, but I can promise that we'll do an episode of SSSAAE (Aussie Accent Edition).
Proposing after someone had an amazing life-changing week is the very definition of controlling. Great decision making Lea!
Hmm, are these flavourites?
I LOVE Awkwardity! This is why The Office and Parks & Rec are my favourite shows forever... with The Office UK being the most amazing thing. I'm particularly awkward in the US, especially with wait staff or retail staff who don't get my jokes because they don't understand my accent. So awkward, it's hilarious. I always embrace the awkward because it makes me laugh later.
My question is;
Can you name a time when you made someone else feel super awkward?
I work a lot on IT projects, so I've been to a lot of mega-awkward farewell lunches. When the awkward silences would carry on for way too long, I'd pipe in with "So Mary, what will you miss most about Bob?" and people would laugh and say something silly, or they'd be nice and say something really sweet. Once, I happened to pick the one person at the table who truly hated the person who was leaving... I had no idea, but everyone else did and loved how awkward it was. The person took the question way too seriously and super struggled to come up with anything... it was amazing. Anyway, she didn't let me forget it for a year and even brought it up at my own farewell lunch.
