This is HUGE NEWS for people in the UK! A major UK Bank has made a deal with Coinbase, which will make trading Bitcoin in the UK possible! Prior to the agreement, UK citizens looking to buy or trade Bitcoin had to use a more indirect approach that involved converting pounds to euros. The statement made in that article is incorrect, I live in the GB Region and there have long been methods to directly convert crypto into Pounds. Having said that, I did not find any that are UK based that had a sane pricing structure and so I currently use uphold.com which is not UK based but which allows crypto to be directly converted into Pounds.

This is great news, thanks for the info, first I'd heard about it! There is actually a way to use Coinbase already for people in the UK to convert to pounds, with almost ZERO fees! The article mentions it briefly.
It involves the banking app Revolut and GDAX. If anyone reading wants to do this, there are tutorials on YouTube if you search.
It is a pain to set up at first and lots of steps but once you've done it, it gets easier after. I use it and pay literally pennies to buy and sell crypto and convert to pounds and put into my bank account - way cheaper than Uphold, which someone mentioned on this thread :)
