I’ve been spending time over the last three weeks building out another course about the steem blockchain. It’s not technical in nature but rather more informative about what decentralised applications already run on the steem blockchain, it’s more of a course to give steem another look and especially for people wanting to build out a decentralised business on top of the steem blockchain.

I’ve tried to pull together as many decentralised offerings on the steem blockchain that are similar to the centralised sites we have grown to love (and hate) over the last decade. It’s obvious to me with the rapid buildout of decentralised applications that function using a blockchain that this is something people want — they don’t want a central centralised faceless corporate structure just mining us for the data that we put on their platforms.

If it’s not leaking our password details it’s selling our data and mining our behaviours in the process, the truth be told people want another way, an alternative way of using digital tools across the web — one that does not constrict us by locking us into centralised platforms but instead allows us to build businesses in the way we want to while still contributing to a bigger broader crypto economy.

Of all the interesting blockchain projects that I’ve seen in the last few years I still very much believe in steem and what it offers and in what’s to come next, I truly believe that while other communities may have the numbers of people using their platforms they don’t truly have the breadth and span of soul like the steem platform has — it’s like a soap opera day in and day out and yet still maintain that global tribe feeling.

I’ll be doing promotion of the course/awareness (free on youtube btw) via twitter and youtube over the coming year and will be using some of my steem power downs to pay for advertising and will report back on how well the campaigns are doing.

Over the last few years I’ve put out mainly free courses on udemy to which I’ve had a great student response with 7,750 students and a cross section from the US, Philippines and Israel, but with students in over 140 countries, I’m hoping now to start to position a large section of my STEEM content on there as well.
