Ideas For Improving DTubesteemCreated with Sketch.

in dtube •  6 years ago

I believe @dtube has great potential. DTube is open source, anyone can contribute to the code! -https://github.com/dtube

I am going to share some ideas I have that may improve DTube. If anyone wants to implement any of my ideas I will pay out bounty rewards.

@Onelovedtube offers a monthly package of 10$ for IPFS storage; this is a must IMO. (shout out to @runicar for showing me onelovedtube) For having no ads and censorship resistance, that is worth something. Especially since a serious content creator could make 10$ in a month posting a few videos a week. (I would help as many serious content creators I can get their 10$ IPFS each month via upvotes) - One click option where the first of your rewards go to your IPFS membership. This will allow your videos to live forever and improve quality and loading speed. - Two of the biggest issues people have with DTube atm.

Tipping. We need a way for people to tip content creators without upvoting. It takes a healthy amount of Steem Power to upvote someone 5$. However, I know many people that would love to send a few SBD tip to content creators who otherwise can't afford to make a massive investment in Steem. I know this can be done from the wallet, but a simple button under the video that allows people to tip right there at the video would be miles better IMO. This will increase people buying up Steem to tip their favorite content creators. Also, people could use this tip feature to tip older videos that they found useful.

Video size has to be below a certain extent. - Force people to use things like handbrake to reduce video size. I should not be able to upload a bloated sized video, and we should cap the videos to 15-20 minutes max unless you pay for a IPFS storage plan. We need to optimize the platform.
Promote how to use handbrake or similar.

When Possible:
Ads. The ability for content creators to monetize via ads. DTube gets a small cut; creators get a cut and (using Braves open source code) take as much as we can to add a way for viewers to get paid as well. This will go full circle; a content creator can use funds from ads to fund IPFS account. Dtube gets paid. And people will watch ads, esp, in the beginning, to support the network and earn some extra Steem.

  • Copy paste brave model: Advertiser buys Steem, funds a campaign, approved content creators get a choice if they want to show ads or not, and so do the viewers. Content creators then get paid for displaying ads on their channel automatically.

Wish List:
Add:

  • Auto post button while uploading. It sucks to have to wait until it is finished uploading and having to manually click upload.
  • Videos people are watching section. This will help bring good content to the front. Upvotes are one thing, but people actually watching is another.
  • Bring in view count. I know view count isn't the goal and SP is. However, people still would like to know how many views they are getting and this is a must if we are talking about bringing in ads.
  • Theater mode.
  • Ability to set who rewards go to for that video. (charity videos etc.)
  • Able to remember where you were in mid-video if it glitches out.
  • My favorites sections.
  • Ability to make videos private or unlisted.
  • Feature video, yours or someone else's. When I go to someone's profile, they can feature someone's video or their favorite video.
  • Guru videos section, for people that teach people things.

Super Santa Wish: Give a section "Most Responded Videos." Videos that are getting a bunch of comments, upvotes, views, watch time and resteems should have a section. Voting bots are one thing, but it is hard to have a bot watch the video, upvote, comment and resteem. This is a step we can take to filter the most organically watched content from the inorganic content.

It's easy to get caught up in the price and lose sight of the prize. No matter what happens we need to lean out while simultaneously moving forward.

Quotes To Float Your Boats:

"On April 23, YouTube went live, taking advantage of a $129-a-month unlimited data plan from ISP ServerBeach. That was all YouTube needed for a time."

"In the beginning of YouTube, we found that very few people came to our website," Karim recalled. "The product was so primitive that you could not even choose which videos you wanted to watch. Instead, the website picked the videos for you, randomly. Moreover, because there were so few videos, they were the same ones, over and over again."

"YouTube's team consisted of about half a dozen people by then, including Chen and Hurley. All had been working out of their homes."

"Hurley and Chen pressed on. The numbers steadily increased. After he invested, Rabois checked Alexa daily to see YouTube's progress. When it cracked the top 35,000 sites, that was a big deal."

Thank you for your review, @knowledges! Keep up the good work!

Thank You so much for the huge promotion of the #OneLoveDTube IPFS service 💪 don’t forget the paid HD backup option (480p & 240p are free for all!!!!) also comes with access to the OneLove uploader which is accessible say the DTube servers go down or have crazy long queues 😉

I agree with you completely about the ads, I have mentioned it a few times that having a system of approved paid advertising and ever green content could very well be the solution to sustainability for the creators and the platform alike. I have no issues watching an ad per video, even just click banners could go a long way!

@d00k13,

Can you tell me more about the free 480p backup from @onelovedtube?

I have been wanting to backup my videos but cannot afford the $10 USD a month right now (I am accumulating Steem Power instead) and some of my videos were deleted from @dtube.

How do I take advantage of the free @onelovedtube backup feature?

Thanks!

Thanks for the shoutout!

Excellent ideas

The most exciting two to me, are:

  • ads - > In collab with @dtube, @dclick should be able to pull it off. Maybe get in contact with them?

  • tips - > Not only because I like to tip, especially when low on VP but, because of the ability to reward content older than 7 days. That's crucial for content creators who are here for the long run and something we are definitely missing right now.

In order to really incentivize devs to go at this and start punching out the code, you could make a separate post and set definitive bounties for each suggestion. Also, if you didn't know, there is SteemBounty. Or, even better, make Utopian.io bounty.

I don't have any of my own suggestions though, you covered pretty much everything there is. I would love to see Dtube get a facelift with at least a couple of your suggestions implemented.

I'll see if I can get any devs to come your way and start working on this.

Great idea. I need to research more on how to work with Utopian

Ask around in their discord. There is always someone there ready to help out.

All great ideas, let’s see if dtube can implement some of these features. 😀

A mobile App or at least a coorperarion with the Partiko team to implement in there App would be amazing. Dtube needs to go mobile and needs to become more faster and reliable!

Posted using Partiko Android

Agreed, @partiko & @dtube could colab to make an amazing App for Dtube.

@partiko times out a lot when I use it but I think it is because I live in the Philippines. Other users like @kenmelendez seem to have a seamless experience.

P.S. I am using the Android app.

Put some decent thought into this one Dan. Well done. Passed it on so others can give their input.

Some great points you bring up @theycallmedan. Also with tipping how about having fiat tipping with Paypal if people want to do that. Or is that getting away from a decentralized landscape too much ??

Really excellent idea and very informative video for us. onelovedtube offer very good

These are great ideas in my opinion, especially the ads one. I think that we really need to take advantage of ads here.

Posted using Partiko Android

You would be surprised at how much a simple website like coinmarketcap makes off ads. There is a ton of money sitting on the table if we pull it off right. If we do the Brave model, where the viewer of the ad and creator of the content both get paid from the ad, there is incentive to actual view ads. I would personally watch ads if it meant I earned a little Steem over time doing so while helping the content creator at the same time.

Excellent point @theycallmedan copying the Brave model for @dtube and even @steemit is worth it's own post - Please do a stand-alone post about it!

Posted using Steeve, an AI-powered Steem interface

With Steemit for example, ads would greatly help them to allocate fiat and get more SP than ever during this hard times

That would be a sustainable business model and most likely they wouldn't have to cut 70% of their staff

The real question is, why didn't they have ads (on the most used interface) and if nothing else, held fiat until times like these...

Nevertheless, I guess this is nothing else but looking in the past - but I do agree DTube should do similar and if I had the decision, I wouldn't wait a single day...

I think Steemit and the rest of the apps are leaving a ton of money on the table not bringing ads in. I am porting somee.social to the Steem blockchain. The delay with SMTs does not help, but SoMee would have used ads to reward content creators/consumers alike. The main point is anyone that does not want to see ads can turn them off, one click, gone forever. However, the ones that wish to help the platform they are on and earn some crypto for watching ads is a big market and unfair to those individuals but not giving them a choice.
If I were to wave a magic wand for Steemit:
Ads (tick for tack the Brave Model, by far the best model I have seen for Ads, all open source and free to the taking)
Using money from Ads, get SMTs done.

Really that is all I want from them. Give me SMTs, and I can do much damage regarding converting projects to the Steem blockchain. Moreover, Steemit gets enough traffic to get some great money for ads. Most people will watch the commercials to support Steemit. Win/Win/Win for all.

You should create a proposal about this and address to @ned

No joke though. And you might be the right person they'll listen

I would observe it with smile on my face... And I can make a vid about it to generate some traction

Posted using Partiko Android

I know. There is a ton of money to be made there. That's why I wish we will be able to utilise ads in the future. But like you say, we have to pull it off right.

Posted using Partiko Android

would love to see a brave / bat model. no idea if that’s possible but what a fantastic suggestion.

that’s a win win for both content creator as well as platform.

Posted using Partiko iOS

  • It would give Steemians another way to earn Steem @jongolson @ned @steemit @andarchy and could attract the interest of big business.

  • It would also ensure that Steemians can continue earning once the inflation rate for Steem goes toward 1% @theycallmedan.

P.S. I imagine that companies will eventually create their own cookie-cut Dapps dedicated to the marketing of their products/services with their own SMTs someday.

Hello @theycallmedan, reading your post has made me very happy. I think that together we can obtain a good result.

I am very happy being Dtuber, I would like to be able to help in another way but I can not afford to invest. Your ideas are great, including advertising and option buttons would be great. I am a creator of content, especially I like to travel, explore, make art and share videos blog. I would like to have my IPFS because I think it would be a good option. How could I do it?

Is there an option to tip Dtube content using brave browser and BAT tokens?

Posted using Partiko Android

No. DTube is not on the approved sites for Brave. I believe we should just borrow the Brave model completely, it is open source and we already have a whitelist which we can start out with the highest rep people as the ones that get to show ads at first.

Yes, absolutely. Brave has been around for a while and their model seems to be working

Posted using Partiko Android

totally especially the view count with stats to track traffic so content creator can adjust accordingly + it's useful when the ads come in to do targeting

and auto popular videos base on views/view time

PS :
If you’re posting content on instagram, give share2steem a look. It’s a new dapp that EASILY autopost your instagram post to steemit. Get daily upvotes from s2s and other users who activate unique double curations.

Posted using Partiko Android

I wanted to post on @zappl but the website has been down for awhile now. I use Twitter, begrudgingly, might have to check out share2steem for twitter if Zap doesn't come back.

awesome! let's onboard 1% of the prominent active crypto ppl using twitter.

What do you think abt the recent collaboration of share2steem and @oracle-d new account creation api ? Will it help onboard more new twitter users ? @algo.coder is there a stats to track new users from twitter creating steem account ?

"Copy paste brave model: Advertiser buys Steem, funds a campaign, approved content creators get a choice if they want to show ads or not, and so do the viewers. Content creators then get paid for displaying ads on their channel automatically." ------ brilliant!

I think that analytics and metrics for content creators will also be great to deploy as it could help them adjust content according to the preformance of prior content and viewer engagement. A tip button would be great and in the meantime you could look at @tipu which is an interesting bot (no affiliation other than I have gotten some tips from other users) that allow content consumers to tip creators and even establish a subscription model using Steem to reward content creation. Great ideas for sure!

This right here is a game changer....no shame in copying someone's good idea...anyone heard of a snapchat stories ??

I think the tip button is a wonderful idea Dan. Those are wonderful quotes about YouTube that are very reassuring to all of us as content creators using this block chain 😇

You are the real leader for Steem!

Posted using Partiko Android

@theycallmedan, nice ideas! I read your post a couple of times and still read it.
Ok, let me ask you something. I think the most important issue at the moment to solve is about the storage. What do you mean "a monthly package of 10$ for IPFS storage'. What is the total size limet in MBs? 1 GB, or 2 GB, etc. ? Or I can pay just 10$ a month an have unlimited storage option?
How can I be sure that they community that is going to keep my videos/and to store them somewhere will not disappear one day due to economic reasons?

Check out @onelovedtube and click the discord link, they will answer all your questions about their service.

if its speed gets improved that's all i need right now it freezes a lot

I think the possibility of tipping, without upvoting is a great idea, so you can reward the creator even if the upvoting period has passed.

Tipping with like the blocktrades api would be nice. Like Steemmonsters does. So people can use other crypro or paypal too.

That would be a really nice solution :)
( way better then youtube )

Ads would be nice for advertiser. But i think first we need easy way to buy steem.

I think Companies outside crypto is the way to long to get in the end steem.

But for the moment some crypto ads are possible.

@theycallmedan always great ideas!

Lots of good idea right here! dTube is a good DApp, but as you said, there's a lot of room for further improvements. Letting people tip easily sound like a great and easy way to let the content creators earn some extra money, and it's probably not difficult to implement for the developers. Ads also sound like a smart thing, and I'm for it as long as it's up to the content creator to chose if they want it or not.

IPFS storage is actually super cool, if it can be better advertised, people outside blockchain can know it better.

I think @dtube should make their reward system more visible.
I mean not all content creators get their upvotes.

I've seen peoples getting upvotes of over $10 in that post which isn't an interesting one.

As far i understand this platform... Dtube is upvoting contents of those users who is using the platform regularly no matter if the content is a good one or a gibberish.

They should keep focus on good contents.
And they should support on every users 1st or 2nd content otherwise users might get dissatisfied thinking they won't get the support that they need.

When a user uploads a really good content after some hard work; if the see their content is not getting any support but normal content is getting it; that will make the user nervous and he would think of leaving dtube.

Posted using Partiko Android

I believe if we make the website faster, easier to upload then more people will use it. People watch YouTube for their favorite YouTubers. If a non-YouTuber uploads a video, it usually gets no views and often is just shared with friends. Sometimes the oddball video goes viral on youtube but those days are fewer and fewer. If more people use D.Tube, and we allow tipping, then we wouldn't need to rely on @dtube tips for content creators, the community itself will take care of that.

I really wish for that to happen.

Posted using Partiko Android

I still miss DLive, had no intention on moving my video content over but there was something different about their UX that made them my first option when starting out. Havn't made much video content since. One feature that I belive should be (re-activated) on both DTube and Steemit is view count.

View counts (or hits) are easier to sell to clients who sponsor posts. It's a better metric than up-votes or earnings.

View count is a biggy. A big complaint I get from youtubers I try to port over is the fact there is no view count, no auto upload button and lastly errors while uploading. If we can make the upload process as smooth as possible, add view count and an auto-upload button, I think we would have many more YouTubers that come here stay. It is a shame to see big-time YouTubers on bitchute and not DTube.

The errors while uploading are frustrating to say the least. After a few attempts or so, the avg person loses patience.

I agree totally, fix those three things and DTube will be (back) as a real YouTube competitor.

@theycallmedan, In my opinion you've came up with the real framework and in my opinion we all have to play the roles in this and have to boost the Dtube Economy and why not, no other centralised platform welcomes to contribute directly which gives the sense of belongingness but hear in Decentralised Economy we can come forward with the ideas which can be implemented as live. Keep up brother.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

Some good ideas you have here. I didn't think of a tip button, but that would be a good way to reward content past the 7-day mark if you choose. Evergreen content should keep raking in rewards in my opinion, because it does on Youtube and personal blogs. The advertisement option is something to consider as well even though one of the reason I like Steem is that it's ad independent. But, again, evergreen content should be rewarded if we want to convince quality content creators to join Steem and DTube.

de nuevo mi visita, saludandole y apoyando sus publicaciones que son muy interesantes, feliz noche y espero su visita y apoyo con su voto

You have the eye of a businessman. I like that! Here's hoping @dtube implements some of these ideas...

A great idea by a great man i am really happy that as i am in search for the ways the minnos can get big on this platform without investment and slowly i am getting to believe that even this is possible.

Posted using Partiko Android

thanks for your contribution and ideas

Those are all pretty cool ideas, I like the donation idea so they can keep their videos hosted and improve load time and performance! I think a concept like steem forever by @knircky could also work well within dTUbe since videos don't age as quickly as written content and users can find joy way after the reward period is over having the ablity to upvote it after that period would really come in handy and help cover your dTube monthly hosting

What can also work really well is a quick listicle option so perhaps you're watching videos on DIY you can add them to a list and then create a quick post to say DIY vids I like to share and link it to your video. Or link response videos and reaction videos on the same topic.

Since alot of dTubers like to create questions and responses its nice to be able to follow the trail, keep up with the conversation and encourage a natural trend happening on the site

You have great ideas and I will love to make a great video as well regarding this new improved ideas on Dtube, thanks for the great initiative. Knowledge found.

(1)

unless you pay for a IPFS storage plan.

What you have in mind ? Something like unlimited plan from flickr ?

(2)
On the BAT / Brave model:

Do you mean to say replicate mimic model or add support for BAT ?

dhenz14 on discord.

  1. A subscription plan people can opt into - 10$ a month currently run by @onelovedtube - Most people don't know this options exist, so to have the option built into @dtube settings would be ideal.

  2. I would like to mimic the brave model where advertisers would buy steem and pay steemians for watching the ads. Just like the Brave model but with Steem. As Steem(it) grows and other UIs we can even become a sort of crypto search engine and play the google adwords game but with crypto. Possibly is endless but the sooner we build it the quicker it can grow.

  1. OK
  2. So its not mandatory to use Brave browser. I have been thinking about a model using blockchain unlike BAT. One of the challenges is with the existing TPS of blockchains, its not possible to track impressions, perform header bidding or even basic old school RTB. I am sure we can think of various hybrid models but to begin with we will have to limit to basic targeting based on geo-locations, browser URLs etc and count the CPM using a basic ad-engine. https://www.revive-adserver.com/ Can be a starting point.

advertisers would buy steem and pay steemians for watching the ads

How to identify which Steem user / NAI has seen the ad ?

Since blockchain cannot handle this particular aspect will have to built into the UIs. A way could be track which user is logged using the authentication token.

May be I am over complicating the ads delivery. Different PoV will be helpful.

@theycallmedan - it will be great if you can reply the above. Someone asked me to help with an estimation for these tasks. A rough list of use cases is below and I am trying to create an estimation.

  1. IPFS integration (backend)
  2. IPFS API @onelovedtube (May be Privex can offer too)
  3. Tipping: Those with liquid SBD/STEEM should be able to tip (UI + backend)
  4. Video Sizes : intelligently detect size from the UI
  5. Offer premium plans for unlimited storage (follow flickr model ?)
  6. Integrate BAT or mimic BAT (need clarity)
  7. Auto post button while uploading - aka "post once upload is completed"
  8. "Currently watched" section of videos
  9. View Count
  10. Theater mode - may need change in the player
  11. Ability to set who rewards go to for that video. (charity videos etc.) : choose benefactor. Needs clarification.
  12. Remember location of the stream : may need enhancement to the player
  13. Favorites/add to Favorites
  14. Private videos (Can be multiple modes so need clarification)
  15. Feature a post / video (anyones)
  16. Guru videos section, for people that teach people things. (Khan Academy)
  17. "Most Responded Videos." - most popular

thanks you very much from the bottom of my heart for your support
@theycallmedan

Excellent ideas, hopefully Dtube will implement some or several of them, make their use more attractive and get more users every day. I agree especially that the size of the videos should be limited, there are users who upload very long and tedious videos, and people end up seeing only a part of them. I hope you follow these steps as indicated. God bless you and fill your life with success.

Too much interest, their ideas @theycallmedan, I'm starting to use dtube and, applying those innovations would be great, to optimize the operation and comfort of the user. I started posting videos only this week, because a few days ago, when I loaded the video, and clicking on the "publish" button, an unknown error "did not stop showing up.

I have a lot of faith that you achieve these objectives, I will be aware of the events. A strong habrazo of #Venezuela, thanks for your suppor

#The best is yet to come

I love the ideas and this sure will change the whole game. The ipfs service should be really useful and will check that out! Thanks for letting all know.

This somehow sounds almost like youtube but could be more fun. The ads that both viewer and creator could benefit from blew my mind. I didn't know it could work that way :D and soooo Glad you brought up the view count and watching now sections (+ the average watching time for each one). Would be fun to see and this will totally rise the quality of the d.tube videos (if people care about it :D)

Hi, Dan!

I think that your proposals would solve many inconveniences that in some cases we present and also some others would make dtube become the online home of every vloger on planet earth.

By the way, thank you very much for creating these excellent ideas and also for stopping by my publication.

Cheers!

You have some really great ideas for making it better. Although I don't produce or upload video content, I follow people who do. Dtube is a cool concept, but the main reason to post there instead if youtube is the potential for a dtube upvote. As a viewer, I'd much rather watch a youtube video right now, but the dtube experience could improve greatly if some of your suggestions were implemented.

I'd also like to see improvement on the video speed section. I normally watch videos at 1.25x (or even 1.5x speed if the speaker is talking slowly) and there's an error I encounter regularly where rather than changing the speed when you click on it, it just goes back out of the menu to change the speed. Then I have to try again and hope that I find the hidden sweet spot to actually get it to change the speed.

Hey Dan, I would love to view Dtube videos, but for some reason I can only get about 1.5 seconds of play time then minutes of buffering then the cycle repeats. It makes it impossible for me to use. I've used two different computers and two different internet connections. I've also used Chrome and other browsers. Sometimes it works with my phone, but only sometimes. I can play youtube videos without interruption all day long. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help.

Sometimes DTube has issues, switch the settings to 420p if that does not work switch it to source. The settings is the round wheel cog thing at the bottom right of the dtube screen.

I just discovered that if I log out of my account and watch the dtube video without being logged in, I have no problem watching Dtube videos.

Very strange.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

I tried that, but still didn't work. There is something else going on. It is not just the video stream, For me, everything on Dtube is insanely slow. There was a time where I uploaded videos to Dtube. Now, if I am on Dtube, and I want to simply click any one of the top right hand drop down menus, it can take 4 to 10 seconds for Dtube to respond to that click. If I want to scroll down and read comments, It can take several seconds to move the scroll bar a tiny bit.

I wonder how many other people are not able to use Dtube?

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

Dtube, while quirky, used to work for me. Now, neither Dtube nor IPFS work. I can interact with the posts and Dtube site normally, but the video is simply a gray space. Dunno what changed, but unless someone posts a Youtool video, I can't watch it.

Hi Dan, your old YouTube channel has a link to your first DTube account. Changing it to the new account should help more people see your new content.

Which one? I just checked and it points to my theycallmedan account.

Ah, I see. In the description you have

, instead of https://d.tube/#!/c/theycallmedan that's in the comments. I was looking in the description, didn't see the link in the comments.

Thanks for pointing that out.

This is truly a perfect achievement for D.Tube progress, I am very fascinated with the monthly offer from @onelovedtube, but hopefully @runicar can see more of all content creators on D. Tube.

Thank you for sharing @theycallmedan ...

Hi @theycallmedan , then what about the content of creators on D.Tube who did not buy IPFS storage from the $ 10 @onelovedtube? Will their content be invaluable trash?

Because so far I have seen content exceeding 7 days on D.Tube rarely be touched by the audience, it will not even be watched at all. Then what do you plan for that fact. ?????

D.tube deletes files after a few months from what I understand. Some videos people can put on their free IPFS plan. But I believe any serious content creator that makes at least 10$ a month from D.Tube should be looking at a IPFS plan to help the entire network.

O ... So ... I understand now.
That means it's good for quality content creators on D.Tube to use the IPFS service from @ onelovedtube, this is a good achievement, I'm happy with this update.
Thanks for sharing @theycallmedan ...

Thanks for investing into STEEM and DTube whether it's time or resources. Really appreciate the upvote and your content as well.

Good insights and @dtube will definitely need more people like yourself always giving thoughts which will bring greater development and improvement to things as a whole.

These are perfect ideas, isn't it? It is.

I would like to see videos make steem forever. Like there are pay out cycles of one week each still but the next week all the videos are carried over and can earn again. Its a hard sell to a youtuber to come here when there there is only a one week window to earn.

Tipping would solve this as well. The rewards can only be stretched so thin, so the issue with upvoting older content is that it leaves little rewards for new content. I always wanted a way to have older material still be able to provide the creator value. On websites like Quora, I still get views and comments from answers a few years ago, and I am sure if there were an ability to tip, I would be making money the whole time my answer is up.

I am trying not promote it everywhere because it sounds like shilling but bittube pays you forever for videos uploaded to bit.tube, pays you to watch them too

When i saw this post you inspired me also to create something special for all the effort you've done to promote steem blockchain and dtube i have you as a guest on my drawing series Steem Red Carpet hope you like the gift mate:

Waw,waw,,, a very modern idea ... this is what we are waiting for ... hopefully accelerated ... by @good-darma

They are great ideas
I can feel my hear beating fast to think where DTube could go with some if not all of these features implemented

I am going to add one Super Super Santa wish ;)
A basic video editor

Thank you for sharing these great ideas @thecallmedan

Oh, the thinks you can think
If you're willing to try...

hey @theycallmedan many of your ideas I already had in mind like the "post when uploaded" button.

However I think trying to make people Handbrake their content is quite an ordeal. Why not making DTube encode the videos using Handbrake on their server?. After all they are encoding to 480p and 240p, why instead not just encode the native resolution into a smaller file size without compromising video quality?. I know this might impact the server usage and performance, but it would be worth it in the long run regarding server space...

Cheers

I like watching youtube. Because a lot of knowledge is there. Your idea is very useful. This will open insight for people.

Maybe it's time for you to go to D.Tube Sis, there is more wow than youtube.

Undoubtedly, these proposed ideas improve the use of the Dtube platform, I hope they achieve these innovation objectives.

d.tube - use "handbrake" to reduce the size of your video, that helps me with upload speed.

Handbrake changed my whole experience. I use very fast 576p, and manually click web optimized - my short videos drop from 200mb to 40mb or less, and upload very quick.

This are a great bunch of additions. I would like to add a native DTube like button, to allow DTube users to define the order of most liked videos and present them to the DTube users.
