Hey Tammy! Yeah, I don't live in America because I feel poor and have to work all day just to live with the basics. Last night I got a 4 dollar one our massage ordered right to my hotel room of 12 dollars a night which is way better than the one in this video.
I actually spent New Years eve on an over night train. Pretty lame, but I had plans to meet my frined who arrived New Years Day from the US in Bangkok.

Funny I live your schedule and survive in Oil Country USA ... maybe I should rethink why I cannot survive outside the US. Oh it’s not creepy to have a 4$ massage ... maybe I’ve been in the US too long I’m giggling ... oh I love trains - granted I’m thinking like a James Bond movie. My internal boundaries about this kind of traveling are loosening - I work freelance here and do fine -damn I would be a queen in Thailand. Did you always stumble on these deals? The locals seem accommodating.

Funny how you say "have I always stumbled on these deals"
News flash! 80% of the world is cheap! Generally speaking US, Canada, and western Europe, so much so that the income to expense I find frankly a bad deal.
The secret to a super good life for many in this part of the world. Is a 1st world income while spending it in a second/third world country. LEt's say you just make 20,000 USD a year, in places like Thailand your purchasing power of that 20k, may feel much more like 80k in terms of quality of life back home. Just because a country may be labeled third world. Does not mean maleria and starving children on every corner. Frankly it means you can live like a king on very little. The locals in these parts often have a better quality of life than those in the west on their salaries of 300- 500 dollars a month. People here have housing, jobs, and are thin and healthy. The average income here in Bali is only about 250 dollars a month!
So 4 dollar hour massage may sound creepy, but to them they do 5 a day that's $20 a day 30 days a month and they are making twice the average salary. Just to give you some insight.
The non-western world is a whole other economy and way of life. Something I've learned to take advantage of for my own personal quality of life, while spending my money here I also contribute to the economy the locals income.
Are you working from your computer? Can you work remotely?
If so hop the next flight to Playa del Carmen Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, or South East Asia, even Ukraine, Georgia, Sofia Bulgaria, Romania, parts of Greece, Italy, and spain are even pretty cheap.
Cut your living expenses down 80% Save all that money that you now don't need to spend to live so-so in the US, and retire to investor class in the next few years. That's my advice.
Have a great day Tammy.

You are right. I have lived with this silly thought that I cannot leave this little bubble. Lately - well the past few years I only listen to news outside the US. Learn about things outside my comfort zone ... like going to Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Please understand I am well aware of the excessive gluttony in the US and western world and have been searching endlessly for my own happy place. Living well doesn’t mean living excessively. I appreciate your candor and your advice as I’m close to jumping on a flight within the next year. My fear lies in my kids being able to visit. My fear is not knowing some political climate. My fear lies in food poisoning or being upcharged due to my tourist status. My fear is offending some person and ending up in prison. I have no fear making a living in any area that had internet. I have no fear of moving. I have not one fear of making new friends, crowds or meeting people.... it will next be choosing where to go.
In the US I spent years throwing darts at the map and moved all over looking for the best place for them. So now it’s simply my time to decide. Oh and get over some of my crazy fears ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks again

Personally I would not recommend Nicaragua or Costa Rica. Nicaragua, has political problems of late, and things are a bit too grungy for me. However you can make a pretty good life with friends and more in San Juan Del Sur, that's probably best spot I can recommend in the country.
Costa Rica is way over priced. two dollars for a small bottle of water. Their economy has been ruined by rich Americans and the locals actually suffer as their wages don't keep up with the guaging prices. Like two dollars for a .75 liter bottle of water (nicaragua about 25 cents), very high food and accommodation prices, while the average local only makes about $600 a month. I find it to be one of the most offensive "pay more get less countries" I've ever been to.
Parts of Mexico, Guatamala, Ecuador, Peru, not Chile (another pay more get less country, but not nearly as bad as costa rica, you can put panama in this group too) Argentina is a gem of a country to reside to especially if you like incredible steak and wine for ridiculously little money.
Colombia too dangerous in general. Brazil, believe it or not I'm yet to visit. Venezuela, that's a total basket case, don't want to go there.
I'd take South East Asia over Latin America personally, but that is just me.
Also I would not recommend anchoring your self to any county, buying land, getting permanent visas. It is complicated, expensive, and suddenly you have a new government master to deal with, like the US is not enough. Luckily you you're American. and it's easy to stay long term in many countries on a tourist visa. They like you! You go there and spend lots of US dollars.
Have a great day!

I just need to add is that is EXACTLY what I’m doing !! I’m looking to start a biz or buy a house or all the crap that is really just keeping me here ... I have 2 years .. and I’m out of here... and it won’t be in Costa Rica or Nicaragua - thanks for confirming that 😁🙀

I have a list of travel writing idea/articles/concepts that I totally shelved as I watched the price of steem plummet over the past year. I just can't spend two or three hours writing a killer article for a probably $2-6 dollar pay out. Hence I do videos and photos now, which are almost effortless to make.
Anyway off on another tangent. You totally reminded me of my shelved article "Don't Travel in Fear"
You do have some legit concerns primarily over your kids. But that's a complicated situation. One thing I can tell you, once experiencing a real culture over a pop culture, real food over fake food, national unity over political division, wholesome values over hardly any values, family bonds over family breakups, appreciation for having something over complaining about what you have.........Living back in America may suddenly be the thing you are afraid of.
Again I'm talking about that 80% of the planet that I mentioned before.

That’s the thing - I believe I’m over thinking. All my kids but one is an adult and my youngest is 16 and she can travel. I’m leaning so close to Southeast Asia and feel I can hold my own. Of course proximity and though Argentina is great - I want more than steak and wine. Lol
I love the videos and I’m quite inspired to record some of my own antics - as I am more of a foodie and local traveler, but still able to support myself and the fam. I’m going to go stalk your page for the Fear article.
Beyond words do I appreciate your time and don’t think I’m not coming to visit - Bali is one of my top 3 locales and I loves seeing the ease as which you do stay there ... funny how we put our own personal barriers❤️
Have an amazing day my friend ☕️

Thanks for the kind words Tammy. I must not have been clear. I never wrote the fear article, so no need to waste your time. However google world travel pro and food poisoning and my excellent article about that should come right up. Which should are you and your stomach with some good info. I stopped writing article when I saw the price in a downward spiral almost a year ago now.
Any questions don't hesitate to ask. I love helping others. Have a great day too!
