After a couple hours of BJJ class, he slips on the gloves for some drills with our kick-ass boxing instructor Josh. I thought I would capture a minute and a bit of the focus and repetition that is about a millionth of a percentage point of what goes into preparing for a fight.

You lucky son of a gun, would love to see one of these events live. Then again, if your taking a beating to get a ticket then you really do deserve it ;) Your friend looks in great shape and from your video it appears he's a southpaw(Being a lefty myself that instantly gets my vote).

Haha yah. He has a karate background and has some insane kicks but it is his ground game of 5 years in jiu jitsu that makes him more well rounded as he buffs up his boxing.
I take the beatings as a way to stay in shape and have fun. 6 years in Bjj for me so I have come to enjoy them. Especially when it helps prepare someone chasing his dream.

It is common knowledge that ground skills are the most important part of mma and not just your humble opinion. You are only relying upon wishful thinking if you think it takes only that. So, we trying mostly in Bjj but work in house with our boxing instructor and take day trips to muay Thai and mma gyms to make sure he has a striking game and has it woven into the whole mma package.
I am not actually sure who his opponent is and he told me the same when I asked him. The beginning of camp is for gettin back into the rhythm and the middle is for studying and planning for the opponent.
As for me, beer is one of my loves along with family, business, Bjj, sailing, camping, playing metal in the band, hockey, crypto and a few others. Gotta mix it up more for a happy life and an interesting blog!
