Do You Compare and Compete? | Real Talk

in dtubedaily •  7 years ago  (edited)

As a content creator, do you sometimes feel like your content somehow doesn't measure up to what everyone else is creating? Today we will talk about why the process of comparing and competing is not always the best option. Hope you enjoy the video.

With Gratitude,
Captain Bob

At the beginning we used to look at the big car reviewers and critique to a ridiculous level, the biggest thing we had to overcome was being infront of a camera and looking at it, then followed fluent non gibberish talking, then saying one piece in one go. A piece of advice I was given was just be yourself, I would add do it for you.

The thing I find on steemit that's the most challenging is being found, once our conent is found it flies, however getting it seen in the first place can be very challenging. We get lots of encouragement and praise from the community when our posts trend especially @curie.

Have you any ideas for becoming more findable?

A great video, with some great points. Keep em coming

I actually agree with your comment about being found. I would suggest perhaps joining some type of community if you can find one that supports your content. For instance I am a part of @dtubedaily and @onelovedtube and that certainly has increased my exposure. If there isn't a community like that for your niche, then start that community! Get yourself a discord group together of people interested in cars and chat/talk about your niche. Perhaps this would help.

That's my point, the way to get exposure is through community ironically not this one unless you hit the trend page, it would be cool if there was that sort of thing through steemit and not externally.

It is actually one of the things the steemit community is working on, but it hasn’t made it through development yet.

Yes they've been working on it since at least the new logo rollout, about Autumn.

Also your question was the inspiration for today's video :) Gave you a shoutout as well!

Sir @captainbob you have discussed a beautiful topic.
I really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for watching! I truly appreciate it!

Nice topic @captainbob . Content comes out best when it comes fron deep thoughts and true desire to impart and not comparisons.

Agreed! Thanks for watching and following along.

You're welcome😊

"let's talk about that" oh how I missed that. It's a tough one, I know I've seen certain genres not do as good on the video platforms. But rather than me going for something outside what I consider true, I focused on improving video quality and what the subjects were that I was talking about.

I couldn't help but say it just for you Kevin, haha.

I agree, great video, I like that PC in the background too!

Thanks!

I couldn't agree more. You make some amazing points that will help all of us grow and improve. Also you mentioned the fun element. I think if we are trying to be someone else, and doing something perhaps that we don't actually enjoy, it will come across on screen. Its the old saying "Do What you Love!". My Daughter and I have a knew channel logo we say at the end from now on. It goes like this "If your not having fun, your doing it wrong!". Great video CaptainBob!

Thanks @kawaiicrush! I love that ending you shared! "If your not having fun, your doing it wrong!" That's fantastic. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Stellar advise as always Skipper. Glad to have you back.

Thank you my friend. Appreciate your support as always.

VEry good video. Wise words. Keep them coming

Thanks my friend. Appreciate you watching and following!

Insightful. I've felt this way too. For me I compare to compete so that I can be better

Nothing wrong at all with getting better as long as it is a healthy perspective on improving self.

Yes! @captianbob I think this is very important. There is so much competition between creators. I think that creating is creating and very much individual. If we are trying to do what another does, we are no longer creating but producing.

Very true my friend. Thanks for following along and the comment!

Couldn’t agree more.
As a new Dtuber and content creator I must say that the only thing that gets me going is that excitement I get every time I have an idea. And that generally is reflected in the result. And that most of the times will connect with the audience. Because they can see that you are being honest, that you’re being yourself.

Emulation, on the other hand, will get you exactly the opposite. It feels weird watching a person acting like someone else.

Have a good one! : )

Agreed! I was out on bike tour, but planning to catch up on your video on making the planets as well ;)

Ahahahah!

No worries : )
I would love to know what you think though.
It’s my second tutorial and still trying to get comfortable in front of the camera : )

Appreciate the feedback and for you watching/following along. I truly appreciate it!

Thank you for motivating and inspiring others. We need to help each other rather than to compete against each other.
