Uruguay has the longest lasting Carnival in the world, with 40 days of celebrations in the streets. Its all about Candombe, the traditional rhythm that is played with the also traditional drums. There are three kinds of drums used to play Candombe: Piano, Chico and Repique. Each one of them has a unique sound and is played differently, and when the sound of the three merge, you create our most traditional and representative rhythm.
Even though Carnival is a celebration that takes place throughout February, you can still see small groups playing Candombe all year long. The structure is always similar: Dancers in the front and the drum players in the back.
Today I went to Punta del Este with some friends to have a coffee and we ended up watching this by chance.
Hope you enjoy this, which is a huge part of my culture.

Very cool!
40 days though, no wonder the dancer has buns of steel!
