He was humble and soft spoken, broadcasting from his beautiful creative studio somewhere in Pennsylvania. He was quick to admit that this was all new to him and, even though he had a long and impressive interaction with entertaining others through various forms of media, the Steem community and ideas were another beast entirely.

Well, it’s now been a couple of weeks since @drkents arrival and, to put it simply, the guy is on fire! He has been simply killing it with his various musical posts on Dtube, Dlive and Dsound. His music is a beautiful blend of sweet and sad, the perfect example of what pure Americana should be. Clear and folky, this man can sing and knows his way around a string or six. I highly recommend all you to check out https://steemit.com/dtube/@drkent/glp6d5qo to get a taste of what I mean. And after that, you might just spend an hour or two listening to his music.

He has been quite the talk of our little community, with the amazing rewards that he has been earning left and right. I recently caught up with @drkent in a voice chat, and we got a chance to discuss this a bit. I remarked to him something to the tune of ‘Kent, you have been here only a few weeks and you have gotten so much love and support, I mean your reputation level is higher than mine and I have been here for months!’ I will attempt to paraphrase his reply - ‘Well, I have been a musician for near 20 years, you know, being a entertainer and sort of an unpaid public figure - trying to make the world brighter through my music and craft, and I see this as a balance to all that time and energy I put into my art. It’s really great and unbelievable.’

I have been reflecting on his words for the past day or so, and you know - it really has warmed my heart about the nature of Steem. Here is someone who has obviously channeled his passion and love into his choice form of expression, and it shows with every syllable and every strum, clear as day. Now I don’t know all the details of how Kent’s music has reached people in the past, but I do know that now he has found a platform where he can finally be rewarded for his dedicated commitment to his art. And that, my friends, is the beauty of Steem.
