In this DtubeSnapPlus I was explaining three reasons why I decided to leave all the Discord channels.
- Dtube Engagement really Sucks and I feel that actual engagement is happening on Discord but not in Dtube.
- I want to encourage Twitter engagement and all the content that I Resteem will be shared on Twitter and this one way to attract developers and investors to make the Dtube Revolution faster
- DtubeSnapR will become the YouTube video response and please do not make anymore DtubeSnapR and this way I wanted to invite all the crypto and Blockchain related YouTube content creators to Dtube and they should be supporting decentralised social media Blockchain STEEM if they’re really care about our Crypto ecosystem
Also please remember the DtubeFamily777 guide lines..
- Create maximum one content in any given 24 hours and show respect to others
- Before you upload a new content please respond to the all the comments on previous content and at least say thank you and show your appreciation for people who’re contributing to your journey
- Please please leave minimum 7 comments per day in other dtube contents to support other’s Dtube journey

Sorry for delayed response. Been thinking about it whole day. I started using discord only when I started using Steemit. Initially we used steem.chat. But somehow, Discord is found to be used more by communities here.
No worries. Understand clearly your point. Whereby people might engaged too heavily on discord and forgot about the real platform. The comments and replies here are for a reason.
We don't rule out the possibility some users are engaging well both on Discord and here in the platform.
Some might still finding the balance. I am in many discord communities because I love to be on the look out on how is everyone doing. But I don't chat alot there due to time constraints. So I think it depends on how users use it. If they use it as dump and leave, they will get the dump and leave rewards. If they engage genuinely, they will get genuine response.
So we hope with your idea to heavily engaged here, people will start to migrate their engagement here.
On the side note, discord has been very useful to me in terms of one-to-one communication especially if it's pertaining Steem or communicating with other Steemians. Still not used to giving people my handphone number just for WhatsApp purpose. Need some time to get used to it as it will be globally circulated once I give out my handphone number.
For now, anything with Steem and Steemians, I still use Discord for DM. 😁 And some updates and announcement can be easily found in discord too rather than us searching for it post after post.
So I don't tell the world my mobile phone except with you. Because you have let us know your WhatsApp. 😁So I don't mind to chat with you there.
In my opinion, you don't need to leave all channels and still can engage heavily here on Dtube. But, it is still your decision if you find you should leave all channels too. It is our choice. And I respect and honor your choice.. :)

What I would like to say is that I use discord in order to send to someone private message. Or to communicate with someone via private messages. Of cousre, now @partiko has a Messaging functionality and I will be glad if people try to us Partiko Messaging for private messages instead of Discord. I hope Partiko will be able to incentivize some of the Discord users to migrate to Partiko Messaging. Let's see what will happen.
p.s. Also, I would like to add...If many Steemians use Discord, it simply shows that Steem needs this functionality. Why we don't develop dAPP or something like Discord that will be build on the Steem blockchain. Proabably this is a question for the developers and tech geeks...

Hi @cryptospa this is the most logical reasoning behind us having used discord in the past. As of course the chat availability was lacking as of yet on Steemit/DTube. However of course we understand we are in the early Beta stages. Comments are great but of course I think people have a need to reach out on a more intimate level via private messaging and or even in live group chat rooms. I definitely think adding these user friendly chat options will increase the traffic to Steemit/D.tube and will also give all of us a better user experience. I am in total agreement with your comment Cryptospa and do not feel a need to leave one of my own below. You have really hit the nail on the head with yours. Thank you for raising this topic as it will mutually benefit all of us.

I never liked chatting on Discord. I don't know why people spend so much time there when you can chat under someone's video or something. I also got the urge to promote good content on Twitter or Facebook or something. Instead of promoting DTube/Steem by telling everyone how you can make money, just share good videos and content from there so that people go there to consume content; not create content to make money.
I'm going to change my Instagram link so that it is my steemit blog instead of my youtube channel. I will try to share good videos or blog posts on Facebook and Twitter as well instead of only my own.
We need to make DTube and Steemit a platform for people to go to in order to watch videos and read posts. If that is the case, we do not need to make 1 million videos about why DTube is great. Let people realize it for themselves when they see the content here.

Hey Nathan, I agree dtube engagment is low, easy to understand with the markets. No problem on discord brother! Lol I like your analogy for discord. We must speak soon. All the Discord stuff is also bothering me right now. Too many groups, too many people focusing on Discord growth and Not STEEM growth (I look at STEEM not just Dtube). @nathanmars, Good to hear your honest opinions and your thoughts about the Discord. And in my opinion every action is an energy and for sure this energy if directed towards the Dtube Economy then for sure it will going to bring more value and more engagement.
Sharing content on other Social Media Platforms is vital and important and it's an way to attract more users and spreading the word of Steemit, Steem and Dtube.
I am not judging any content but in my opinion we should create when we get inspiration to create, if we are creating for the just for sake then in my opinion we are not doing justice to ourselves and platform.
Sometimes we have to set particular numbers to achieve some target because, if we observe, when we just think about doing multiple activities but we are just thinking then it stays unfinished no matter that particular activity is less or more in work aspect, but the difference exist when we note something and when we structure everything in numbering, in this way we can come up with better planning and execution.

There is one benefit from the #OneLoveDTube community that can only be accessed through discord, our IPFS Node so you can backup all your videos making them forever playable!
I agree we need to engage on the blockchain but I don’t believe casting off discord is the solution as many creators may benefit from the tools found through discord community. Now we do need to refrain from making discord the priority but our IPFS node is invaluable for content creators and helps keep that channel alive being able to link to previous works knowing they will still play forever!
Furthermore the curation efforts that happen through the post promotion channels, we have a small team reviewing and using the discord bot to upvote with the entire #OneLoveDTube trail.... for a newbie this is an amazing support and anyone can get their post in front of the eyes of our curators!

Upvote is separate from ipfs node use but the node update posts are meant to be daily, depending on how you asked about the service they may have assumed you wished for HD hosting but no it’s not new but we are trying to push subscriptions so we can keep the service alive.... I am pretty certain anyone may access it through our discord via !ipfs480 in the bot spam channel.

It's about a time time someone need to build Discord like Dapp on top of STEEM.

Neat message. We try and use discord to add a layer of personal/live connection and enhance the engagement in STEEMit and Tdube. We can take it too far and divert engagement to a non-STEEM platform like Discord for sure.

So far it is a very dead world over there in terms of steemers helping each other. I have close to 400 steemers on my steeming twit list and rt from it many times daily. I am lucky to get 5 rt's a week out of this action I have been taking for the last year and a half.
I get MUCH better rting of steemit tweets from my twitter connections who are not even on steemit. Over 700 of those are in crypto - but not here yet.

TokenBB is a great Steem Project to organize forums and chats on the Blockchain. The first test will run with Steemmonsters they want to migrate the discord community into the TokenBB plattform. I'm not tech savy but maybe this could be an alternative for you guys as well.

@nathanmars, I use Discord only for more important prospective. If not I'm not trying to non important chatting with others. But there has some advantage. if connected world wide steemians through discord will get more reasonable benefits probably.

I agree with you on the engagements issue. I actually don't really use discord all that much. I much prefer to comment and engage with others here. I do agree we can use twitter and I could be better about that myself which ill work on for sure.
I also agree the Dtubesnaps should not become the norm or dtubesnapsr for that matter. We need to focus on making better content and while making a dtubesnap every now and then I think is fine it should not become the new bar to meet for content here.

I did this a couple of months ago because I also believe Discord is one of the main reasons engagement is low on the blockchain. I used to get people sending me PMs in Discord after a video I put up, instead of putting the comment on the DTube video.

It's down to time management, organisation and priorities. I wouldn't rule out Discord entirely, but as a way to engage when you have done 'enough' engagement on Steem. But, first the engagement on Steem has to happen.
Since we have a low SP (atm 40 SP... Delegated the rest), this does mean we are limited to a few comments/upvotes/posts per day as our RC dries up pretty quickly. In this case, resorting to Discord or Partiko messenger is not an entirely bad thing. Yet, not many are in our position and have the ability to do 50+ comments/upvotes/resteems etc., so we see your point too.
We were big on Discord at the start of our Steemit journey as communities do flourish there, but you can spend hours chatting away on multiple channels. It can be a distraction.

I have always engaged more on the platform as opposed to Discord, mostly because I am an introvert by nature though I can say I have come a long way since I started, and I don't have time to sit and chat long time, so I drop in to touch base
Having said that the communities have also helped me a lot in terms of understanding crypto and steem
So, I think is is very helpful especially for those new or who are still trying to find out more about the platform, so they can ask the questions in a smaller, "safer" space.

I'm also not a fan of the heavy use of discord in any of the communities. Like I get that some people want to have private conversations but a lot of the actual discussions are happening off site which doesn't help create a platform that says we about user generated content.
I think you're on to something here and perhaps dTube curation groups can look at reviewing engagement the way steem-ua does when evaluating the reward to try and encourage discussion on the content.
I think its important as YouTube is already a one way mass media tool where the creators don't really engage much with their community they just pump out content and dTube can be something much more conversational

I remember when I started my full time steem journey five months ago, I commented on so many people’s contents and hardly no one responded to my comments and that time I had around 30k SP too.
So many people here are treating this platform as “post and leave” and “post and leave”
Then on the other hand..
People never comment on other people’s contents and it’s always about them and their family and friends. Sometimes Steem feels like a family only business to me.

Bro I agree with you most of the Steemians are active on discord...... I guess so because it instantly gives notification who has commented, followed and upvoted.
The one sad part is some people are spamming dtube with copied content from youtube, tik tok app or you can say plagarized content and keep on asking i watched your video now like my video this thing really discouraging.
The best part about Dtube is that I am starting to get comment on videos and i am getting followers.

I guess there are millions of reasons why Discord is useful tool but I really hope Dtube content creators put Dtube first before Discord and bring some real engagement to Dtube.

I find it pretty hard to concentrate my Steem communication only on the comment system. On the other hand I agree that moving away that discussion to 3rd party apps like Discord is confusing and takes attention away from Steem.
It would be nice to have something like Discord onchain but with the current situation and problems we are facing this cannot be our priority.
Increasing comments also helps with SEO rating for videos. Do you think that DTube videos are interesting for outside content consumers/creators?
Twitter? Maybe I should use it more, I am just having a hard time using the old centralized social medias. I assume you want to create more of a Steem-buzz over there to let more people migrate. What is key there to achieve that? Just sharing our videos there?

Actually not only did I read the description properly but I listen to the entire video. In the video he explicitly says the name of two particular discord groups but left out others which confused me because the description said something different. Therefore I asked the question. I wonder if you also listen to what he says and read what he says concerning responding to nice comments people take the time to leave you. Because I can remember you are one of the people that I was leaving nice messages for and you would not respond to me. When I asked you about that you said because you didn’t feel like talking to me. Maybe you need to read the descriptions of the videos and take it to heart the good advice he’s trying to offer you if you want to grow your channel. If I fall silent on particular channel is it is because they don’t respond to the messages with even as much as a simple thank you. It is funny how you assume I didn’t read the description and yet you don’t read the description or take the good advice that this man is offering you for free which is only to help you grow. But the very thing you were doing you were assuming I did and you were wrong. Thank you for trying to point out that I was not reading the full description to make me look stupid but the truth is I read everything I watch everything and I respond to everything and if I have a question I ask about it. It is funny how you never have anything positive or nice to say but you’re always ready in the wings to jump and attack me. This isn’t the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

it’s funny because of you think about it...if you respond on the blockchain not only can you be rewarded but it helps everyone.
i can totally see the need to focus on engagement here. it’s important.
that being said i think it’s the individual too. for example i fiend and absolutely love engagement. i make it a priority to respond and upvote everyone that comes to my channel
i’ve seen that go way down on steem. i don’t even bother posting comments on some people’s channel now because i don’t even get a response.

That is so true. That's why I don't spend a lot of time in Discord. I know I miss a lot of the fun but also I know that if I go in there I will be lost chatting and talking with amazing people for hours and then I won't even bother watching their stuff because I am already in touch with them. 😉

Yeah if course I do respect. Because I totally agree with you and understand what you mean. It is okay to go there now and then. But we also need to make sure we don't forget to be active in here.
Also I think we as creators need to do as much work to promote engagement and creators in here but we need to find ways to attract more people that are not creators and are just here for the fun of enjoying our content and we need to grow to be able to reward our followers and "fans" specially if they are not content creators 😊

I actually stopped using discord apart from to promote my videos primarily because I’m in a completely different time zone to most of the others and it never lines up. I think the engagement should be kept on the blockchain but I do still use discord to keep in touch with some of my friends in dm form. The one love community I will always post in from time to time though, that was the first community that I joined and where I found most of the friends I now have.
