It was not really noticeable by the people up until Robert Zemeckis’ film, Cast Away which starred Tom hanks in 2000. Upon the release of the said film, the island became a tourist attraction. This island is somewhat mountainous, having mainly of higher screw pines, and coconuts and also is considered one of the places on which endangered species known as Fiji Crested Iguana is found. This island contains 300 plants, six birds, and 24 reptiles that are unique to Socotra and what is the thing that makes it different from other islands? It is the dragon’s blood tree that grows in the very own islands. The tree may sound very dangerous and threatening because of its given name but do not worry, this is just an ordinary tree but has a bright red sap with its odd shape. From the tree’s very thick central trunk is a sturdy crooked branches that are fanned out into a round umbrella- shape and are crowned with palm- like leaves. Never heard of any kind of tree like that, did you? So, if you are interested in having a photo with a tree like that, go on ahead and spend your break in a place as unique as this.

Home of the Uros tribe, pre-Incan people that according to legends are the owners of the lake and water is one of Peru’s oddest attractions. Although ‘floating islands’ was part of its name, this island is actually mats that are made of buoyant Totora reeds that measures 8 up to 12 feet thick. Anthropologists are still unclear of why and when the Uros tribe settled in the middle lake of Titicaca but they do believe they had migrated there during pre-Columbian period. Having an experience of standing on a floating ground sounds kind of cool, is it not? If you have nowhere in your mind to go during your vacation days, try going here in the Floating Islands of Lake Titicaca.
