Duckweed - Lémna - family Araceae - Ряска -#ccc

When you walk past the old pond, you can often see small vegetation that covers the water with a dense green carpet. This is the duckweed.

Often, mistakenly it is called seaweed, but, this is a delusion. Duckweed is a higher plant, it is referred to a detachment of flowering plants. She has a root, stems and small inflorescences.

The duckweed breeds very quickly. This is well known to those who hold an aquarium at home. If, accidentally, to bring into the aquarium this plant, then, very soon, the entire surface of the aquarium will overgrow with a green carpet.

I know only one way how to get rid of it, it's, choose it manually with a small net, or a spoon with small holes, noise.

So, duckweed, this plant that lives on the surface of the water. Staying afloat is helped by a special device of lamellar stems. Yes, stems, formations that look like round leaves, in fact - stems.

The high caloric value of this plant makes it an excellent food for poultry, chickens and ducks, for pigs and cattle.

On this, one could stop, but, it should be said that this is a medicinal plant. It is able to deal with such terrible ailments as psoriasis and vitiligo. The main emphasis is on skin diseases.

From duckweed, tinctures are prepared, which treat affected areas of the skin.

The duckweed is transferred from one pond to another, with the assistance of birds and all those to whom it could adhere.

All plants that live on the surface of the earth and under water absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. The duckweed is not an exception. When I served carbon dioxide in my aquarium, duckweed, like other plants, grew in a matter of hours or days. Very fast.
