Dumpster diving Series!!! My experiences finding fun, interesting, and valuable things in dumpsters

This is a repost from my personal blog from 2010-2011.

Hello world! For a long a time, I have been wanting to document everything I find in the trash or what people give me for free. I realized that I could start a blog about it where other can also look and read the stories. Warning! I just want to let everyone know that some of these stories might not be appealing to you, but I will still post. Also I would like everyone to know that I do not steal anything. It is either found in the trash bin or dumpster or given to me to by people to get rid of it. A lot of stuff I find either gets recycled, composted, or donated. I just hope the stories are funny and interesting. Enjoy!

I have always wondered about the Earth and cared what people do with their resources. I’m American and not perfect, but everyone can help out and take a step in the right direction. I started going through the trash when I was a freshman in high school. At the end of every year, kids would throw out garage cans of paper. I would dig out paper and recycle it. The next three years I did this until senior year. Then, something hit me. I started to become radical but a good radical. I started looking in the trash for stuff to recycle and compost. Half way throughout the year, I started a compost bin at lunch. In AP English, we read an essay “On Dumpster Diving” by Lars Eighner, which only encouraged me. Also over the summer and at college, I would find tons of stuff. Now I am addicted. I have found the best stuff at college which I will post in later updates.
