Today, grabbing a mentor has never been easier. That’s good and bad. Easy access means you can get too much information from too many sources resulting in conflict and doubt. Be selective when you pick and commit.
Find someone who will be difficult for you to outgrow. Had I taken the time to reach way up the food chain of leadership and mentors I would be much further along than I am today because my think would have been more explosive.
Getting a mentor to duplicate is a success hack of monster proportions and one that has helped me throughout my career to both know what to do and what to avoid doing.
Don’t filter and alter until you can duplicate. The ability to duplicate is very difficult for some people. If you want to get the most out of your mentor, do what they say, exactly. Look, if you change the recipe even a little, you can ruin the dish.
The reason anybody looks for a leader is because they either have the wrong information or they lack information. Your greatness is only limited by the investments in yourself.
