This dish is one of many Indonesians favorites. The chicken soup pie, or Pastel Tutup, as we call it in Indonesian. 'Pastel' comes from the Dutch 'pastei' or pie. 'Tutup' means cover. The dish is originated as a Dutch Indie colonial dish. A typical Indonesian chicken soup, with some vermicelli, then covered with a layer of mash potatoes. Still is this dish very common, served in Indonesian nostalgic parties or gathering.
Today I bring my nostalgy of my childhood in Indonesia but back here in Holland where I live.
This looks so tasty 😍
