Dear Friends, Family and fellow Steemians!
Welcome to my personal blog! For me, this is a temporary project in which I want to document my experiences. Mid-august I will exchange my home country in the Netherlands for South-Korea for my studies. I've been looking forward to this for more than a year now! But before I go ahead, I would like to introduce myself for a bit. Originally, this piece is intended for friends and family. However, the internet is a free spirit - thus accessible - for everyone!
My name is Wouter (phonetically = Wow! + Tér) and 23 years old. I'm currently enrolled in Business Administration with a focus on economics and entrepreneurship. My school has chosen me to document my experiences in the form of a blog in which I will describe cultural differences and challenges I endure during my travels. Now, I can imagine that people, unfamiliar with Steemit read this and think: ''Nice and all, but why are you Blogging on a website I've never heard of?''. Good question. I've chosen this site because it is utilizing a Blockchain network. And since I will write my thesis on this subject after I get back, it seemed logical to use Steemit! :-)
For most people who use Steemit, the concept of a Blockchain should be clear. For those who don't in a nutshell: a Blockchain could be compared like a big book, and everyone has a copy! Because of this data and transaction can't be falsified and fraud should essentially be impossible. The Blockchain is notorious because of Bitcoin. But let's not get too far ahead now..! Maybe next time.
At this moment of writing, I just got in contact with my Korean-Buddy. Joohong will pick me up and help me get started! After a long flight, I will arrive in Daegu, the southern part of Korea. This city contains more than 2.5 mln inhabitants, which is about 20 times bigger than my hometown. In Daegu, I will be studying at Kyongpook National University, one of the biggest schools in the area!
Before departing I will write another blog which will be intended for my local school paper which I've been asked for to write. This blog will also be posted on Steemit! I can't wait to head out and start this adventure! I want to thank everyone for their support! Hopefully, my next blog will be more interesting than this one.
Having a good one,
Wouter
--------This is a translation of my blog from the 9th of july, however, there are some edits due to grammar and events that have happened in the meantime. I've submitted a request to make multi-layered content in which it would be possible to select the preferred language. Meanwhile, I will submit two blogs per production. One in Dutch and one in English-------
