Care of the dying patient at home

in dying •  7 years ago

My name is moe and this is my very first blog post ever. My hope for this journey is to assist people who have brought their family members home to die. Hospice care is increasing in the United States as baby boomers age. Many people feel the need to take their loved ones home to die. This can be very intimidating to families. Often patients begin their journey on hospice before they are very close to death. They may be still functioning, receiving chemo, enjoying some activities but they are beginning to see signs that the end of life is nearing. Through each of my blogs, I will attempt to explore with you what patients are experiencing, what the family is experiencing, ways to care for patients, interesting stories I have learned through the years and see how this evolves. I have a lot to learn about posting and technology but please if you have an interest in what I have listed follow me and let me guide you on your journey.

My grandmother had Hospice care in her final couple of weeks. I am so thankful for the care she received from them. They gave her, her last bit of dignity and showed her so much love.

I am sorry to hear of her passing, do you think there would be a need for a resource such as this, of videos, blogs, walking people thorugh what they are going through?? I always felt that families feel that hospice care is 24/7 in the home which it is not always, sometimes a very sick family member will be dropped off by ambulance with no nurse expected to arrive to admit until the next day, a scary time for them indeed. Ty for my first respond :)
