The legend of big stone ( Batee Raya ) in Juli District

Sometime ago, We had a stopover to see firsthand a big stone located in once of a village in July District Bireuen Regency, the name of village is “Batee Raya Village”. There was a village of the kingdom was taken from a large stone that there, “The large stone” in Acehnese mentioned “Batee Raya”. Because there is a large stone there and full of legends so saying the name of their village with Batee Raya Village.

Beberapa waktu yang lalu, kami sempat singgah untuk melihat langsung sebuah batu besar yang terletak disalah satu desa dalam kecamatan juli kabupaten bireuen, nama desa tersebut adalah “Desa Batee Raya”. Desa Batee Raya ini diambil dari sebuah batu besar yang berada disana, “Batu Besar” dalam bahasa Aceh disebutkan “Batee Raya”. Dikarenakan ada sebuah batu besar disana dan penuh dengan legenda maka diberilah nama desa mereka dengan nama Desa Batee Raya.

Desa Batee Raya terletak disebelah selatan pusat kota Bireuen dengan jarak tempuh sekitar 2 kilometer dan menghabiskan waktu selama 10 menit dari simpang empat kota kabupaten Bireuen. Desa Batee Raya ini dikenal warga bireuen karena didesa tersebut ada sebuah batu besar dengan tingginya mencapai 8 meter lebih dan berdiameter (keliling) sekitar 30 meter dan diatasnya datar dan luas serta cukup untuk menampung sekelompok orang, sedangkan dibagian belakangnya terdapat yang menyerupai tangga yang bisa digunakan untuk mempermudah para pengunjung menapakinya hingga ke bagian atas batu.

Menurut warga setempat, yang pertama sekali membuka areal pemukiman penduduk disana adalah orang dari kecamatan peusangan sekitar tahun 1832 Masehi, mereka saat itu tertegun melihat sebuah batu besar yang ada disana, sehingga diberilah nama pemukiman tersebut dengan nama “Batee Raya” yang saat ini menjadi “Desa Batee Raya”.

Batu besar yang terletak dipertapakan tanah adat desa ini, banyak cerita atau legenda yang berkembang didalam masyarakat. Cerita legenda yang turun temurun dari orang tua mereka dulu, didalam batu besar (batee raya) tersebut dulunya terdapat berbagai macam piring, cangkir dan peralatan prasmanan lainnya. Dulunya setiap masyarakat yang akan membuat acara kenduri pesta, biasanya mengambil peralatan prasmanan dari dalam batu besar tersebut, kata mereka ada pintu yang terbuka dengan sendirinya, hingga masyarakat bisa mengambil piring, cangkir dan sebagainya dari dalam batu besar tersebut.

Sehingga pintu batu tersebut tertutup untuk selamanya, karena kalau seseorang mengambil dan meminjam piring atau cangkir dari batu besar tersebut harus dikembalikan seutuhnya dan tidak boleh ditukarkan.

Dari kejadian tersebut dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa kita harus jujur dalam kehidupan ini. Meskipun tidak terbuka lagi pintu pada batu besar tersebut untuk mengambil peralatan yang diperlukan untuk acara kenduri pesta, masyarakat setempat sampai dengan tahun 1970-an masih tetap membuat acara kenduri blang dilokasi yang berdekatan dengan batu besar tersebut.

Kami pernah memanjat batu besar ini dengan memegang dan menginjak pada akar pohon yang turun ketanah, pohon besar yang ada disana membuat kita terlindungi dari teriknya matahari serta memberikan hawa sejuk ketika berada diatasnya dan ditambah lagi dengan terpaan angin sawah yang menambah cita rasa alam merasuk sampai kedalam pori - pori. Kami santai dan istirahat sebentar bersama teman – teman diatas batu tersebut sambil melihat pemandangan dan mendengarkan nyanyian burung diatas pepohonan.
