My Answer To NewbieGames Jeopardy ~ Where Every Answer Is A Winner!

World hunger effects 795,000,000 people in the world. Thats 795 million people in the world do NOT have enough food to lead a healthy active life style. And thats not okay. If you go to the back of most grocery stores, you will see pails, dumpsters, boxes full of wasted food. Lettuce that has turned a little brown, fruit and veggies that are bruised, boxed food that is "out of date", canned food that have been smashed. This would be a jack pot for someone whos hungry. Why do they throw these things away? Most towns/cities have local food banks who would love to receive these things, yet their cupboards are going bare. If we could make world hunger a larger topic to be discussed maybe we can change these things. Instead of these stores just throwing away this food, what if they had incentive to share their left overs with local food banks. What if restaurants had an incentive to feed the hungry instead of tossing pre-made food at the end of a shift.

Even in my small town of less than 24,000 people, our local food bank is ALWAYS needing more. The local churches always have posts on social media asking for help and donations. I have brought food up there by box fulls. The look in their eyes when you go in there with food to give is amazing. As I stand there looking at the bare shelves, I cant help but to let my very emotional side come through. There are so many adults and children, CHILDREN, that go without food daily. If each able person could bring in at least one bag of food, whether it be boxed food, can foods, fresh fruits and veggies, we could at least solve our local issues of hunger!!

Thanks for starting the discussion @smylie2005 about a crazy problem.

  • There is no reason hunger has not been wiped out.
    • Our governments waste so much...
      • This web site says it would only take "$30 billion per year is needed to end world hunger"

We can do this!

  • One thing I like about Steemit, is I see it helping projects like ending world hunger.
    • Rather than pay taxes and hope the government does it...
    • Rather than give to a non-profit that for decades has been promising to end world hunger, and instead spending 50-90% of the donations...
      • We can directly influence someone's life.
  • I try daily to pick out a post to upvote (and right now that's not even a penny) written by someone in a 3rd world country.
    • I check wallets and if it's only worth a few dollars
      • I click that upvote.
Even if it's not that great of a post...
  • Someday I hope to be able to just transfer them some SBD or I hope my upvote to be worth enough to make a difference in their life.

You are absolutely right! I would love to be able to donate to a reliable charitable cause but the sad fact is there isnt one. Theres not one around that actually fights to cure world hunger. They line their CEOs pockets with 95% and gives the other 5%. Thats why for me helping locally is the best thing I can do. At least I see first hand where that money and food goes. I believe we can do it, I believe we can do it, humans as a whole! It takes people like you to keep pushing for the good in man kind. Thank you so much for stopping by and expressing your feelings as well!

wow. very good information and post. love it. congratulations my friend

Thank you :)

Thank you so much! :)

That is wonderful! Why not give away the food to the needy rather than throwing it in the garbage! Way to France!

One way to prevent food waste is to look at your selves, if a package is getting close the the "date" say a week away, pack it and take it to the food bank. My wife and I shop every three days, so we do not have a lot of waste, that can help also, buy what you need, not what you want, what your kids want, what your wife or hubby wants, buy what you need, any extra at the end of the week, drop off at the food bank on your way to the store, and look to see what they need, then after buying what you need, buy a little extra and drop that by the food bank on your way home, even if it is only one box of pop tarts because that was on the food wish list for kids.

Nice, I have been looking at these newbie games, they look like a great way to get everyone involved. Pity people are still going hungry. ☹

Theyre great! And it really is a pity that in this day and age we still have people who cant have a decent meal, much less 3 a day!

really heartfelt article @smylie2005 - I can sense your passion for it coming through in your words. You showed a more human side to subject .. well written.

Thank you very much @jorlauski!
