How are they formed and what are earthquakes?

Hello steemits, today I bring you this post for the events in Mexico to understand a little more about these natural phenomena.

Definition

It is a strong movement in the field caused by the forces acting inside the earth, which propagates in waveforms, causing landslides and falls of structures.

How does it originate?

It is created by the tension caused by tectonic plates that are accommodated over time, shaping the planet's surface. This process is still to be completed, because if this displacement is difficult, the plates will collide with each other like two icebergs of earth on a sea of lava (very epic). The plate will then move above or below the other, causing a certain amount of tension energy to build up that will at some point be released and cause the sudden movement of one plate; it will collide with the other, breaking it, and this will release some energy that will give rise to the earthquake.

What to do during an earthquake?

There are many ways to act in the face of an earthquake, so I will name the more general ones, and these are:

  • Find a safe place like a table or desk

  • If you can't find a safe place, cover your face and head with your arms.

  • Stay away from the windows, lamps or anything that might fall on you.

  • If you find yourself in the street, stay away from the poles and electrical wires.

  • If you are in a moving car, stand up immediately and again get away from anything that might fall on you (buildings, poles, electric wires, etc.).

  • If you find yourself somewhere with a lot of people like the movies or a restaurant, stay calm and don't go to the door, what do they have to be far away from? Anything that might fall on you.

Stronger earthquakes

Personally, I was struck by two earthquakes that exceeded magnitude 9.0, which are:

Valdivia (chile)

It was the most intense earthquake, and it has been the largest in the world to date. It occurred on August 22,1960, with a force of 9.5 in which 1655 people were killed and 3,000 injured, 2,000,000 people lost their homes, and as the earthquake was not enough, a tsunami struck Hawaii, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines and the United States.

Alaska (USA)

Known as the strongest recorded in North America, it occurred on March 27,1964 with a magnitude of 9.2, I have caused a strong tsunami that was able to surpass 5 meters in addition to this there was a side effect which happened in areas such as the hills Turnaban where collapsed clay cliffs carrying several houses, this occurred because there was a temporary change of soil and sand from solid to liquid state.

Where are there more tremors?
