Great way to attract the local worms from your garden. And this is even better than the worm towers that are buried in the ground because worms tend to flatten mound and fill in holes so they will empty your bucket into the ground and feed the plants instead of filling a buried bucket with the garden soil.

We have so much worms it's not even funny. Worms have a way of controlling their populations so this also helps provide a balance of sorts for said worm populations in the containers and the soil they rest on.
Usually, the soilder flies show up before now but it's been a mild spring so maybe when it's warmer in a few weeks. I plan on having these containers indoors at my new location where ever that maybe so soilder flies might not be ideal.
I'm lacking orbatids for some reason(not really native in Vegas but the wood lice are) and I do wish I had more benefical mites you know the kind that eat fungus gnats...

On my side of the world, BSF have stopped ovipositing in my bins as it's getting cold. Looking forward to see them in late Spring
